The effects in the future don't happen until Takamitchy goes back to the present. Evidenced by Naoto having done no investigative work on the changes as they happened. It seems less like time travel and moreso Takamitchy is going to an alternate timeline and jumping back. Remember that Takamitchy got dumped, but in the present it's him that did it. Also the fact that his past self is continuing on living with no memories of what has been going on, those memories are not updated to Takamitchy either. So it's clear it's not time travel and that Naoto has been lying as well, for example Takamitchy coming to the present at work instead of waking up by Naoto when he should have been comatose.

So if it takes takamitchy a week to fix the problem, it'll be a week in the present. But what exactly does that do to the brother's psyche? Cuz now his sister has died twice but he's got both sets of memories and depressions in him.
