Its honestly not that jarring. I have rewatched Gintama like 4 times, and it never affects me going from the more recent episodes back to first season episodes. The earlier animation honestly isn't that bad anyway. Also, the slight spoilers isn't that extreme to where it will ruin their future viewing experience. More like exciting as you get a sneak peak of the greatness to come.
