usually people say you should study anatomy from books and atlases, and that’s true. but personally i learned mostly by reading a lot of hentai and looking nsfw artist’s arts. the anatomy there is exaggerated and simplified, which made it easier for me to understand the basics without getting lost in unnecessary details. once you get the main body structure down, the realistic stuff adds itself over time. probably that’s why the anatomy in my art tends to look more sexualized… In hentai and manga, figures are pushed to extremes, which helps capture proportions and dynamics more quickly. Plus, there are many poses and angles. Such works often employ extreme bends, twists, and angles that are rarely seen in academic textbooks.
