Lily scattering the poneglyphs was just brilliant, since they basically contain pieces of history as well as the road to finding the island of Raftel/Laughtel. The world government can't do shxt about that, and even more so since they can't read them (which is why they keep trying to get Robin). I'm guessing that finding the island and therefore the One Piece, is ultimately going to help in going against the 5 Elders + Imu. The thing Whitebeard said before he died, about an incoming great war that the whole world will be wrapped into looks a little more tangible with every new piece of info.
