These episodes were fire. The walls of Jericho is probably my favorite joke in this entire show. I had to stop watching because it caught me so off guard.

Jacob R

thats some disrespectful shit to give someone a marshmallow after they gave you chocolates lmao

Ramfemboy

Nice to see other peeps in the comments besides me versed in Japanese culture. Saves me some hassle lol.

I've mentioned this (about mayo) countless times myself, but I guess it's easily forgotten maybe. And the inaccurate subs, oof. Would be nice to have subbers know a thing or two about Japanese culture besides the language. That said, JAPANESE mayo is quite good on JAPANESE-style fried chicken (karaage). I'll have to take Subaru's side on this one. It is really a shame about the cultural barrier though, the reactors here really envisioning a COMPLETELY different dish than what they're actually talking about, so they think that the toppings/sauces they're discussing on the chicken is completely unheard of, when it actually isn't. As someone who is half-Japanese, I'm very LOWKEY irked by the mistranslation and the fact that they have no idea what they're actually talking about. Can't be helped, I guess.

Jfc, the fact that there's something that symbolizes "I hate you." Imagine getting marshmallows from someone, even though you LOVE marshmallows. XD But idk, seems kinda clear to me what "duty chocolate" is from context. So should be pretty easy to figure out, even if you're not versed in Japanese culture.

Hi, Javon. I'm doing pretty good today, thank you for asking. XD

They weren't talking about wings they were talking about Karaage, its more like fried chicken. I'm guessing translators tried to localize it or something but I don't think "Chicken wings" was a good choice. Also Japanese mayo is different than regular mayo. Its made differently than American mayo and its lighter and fluffier? Not sure how to describe it but they are pretty different.

Valentine's Day in Japan is usually about girls giving guys chocolate. It can either be giri (duty/obligation) chocolate that you give to friends/classmates/coworkers, or honmei (true feeling) chocolate that you give to someone you have romantic feelings for. Handmade chocolate is also considered more meaningful than store-bought. They also have White Day on March 14, where guys who got Valentine's chocolate can give a gift in return. Certain gifts have special meaning. Candy means "I like you," cookies mean "let's be friends," and marshmallow means "I hate you."
