So, my guess is, judging from the visual cue, facial expression, the fact that they're kids, and just the unusual situation as a whole..... they were just standing there because they were confused and in shock, and probably also frozen with fear (which is a thing btw). Do you remember that thing Senku mentioned in Dr. STONE when they were attacking Tsukasa's hideout, that there's a certain timeframe in which people don't react right away? Probably something along those lines. Also, I highly doubt at any point, the characters would've been like, "Okay Javon! We heard you! We're gonna run now!" XD

She’s absolutely the most interesting character in the show and everything escalates so much more rapidly after she joins the story. There’s a ton of really good arcs coming in the future, although it sucks there’s so few episodes left in this season.
