Wonder if this is why he never ceases the dragon ball parodies even till the very end. Also, Sorachi actually wanted a Gintama collaboration with One Piece like how they did with Sket Dance, but for the first time Oda declined a collaboration with another manga. Apparently he didn't think Luffy & Gintoki would match well together. Sigh, but Oda did draw a nice lil picture of the two in his note - https://i.redd.it/caojfdv8sc5y.png
