2022-12-28 12:15:47 +0000 UTCSad to sit and wait for more Chainsaw, but yeah, let Mappa take it's time with this. The season was fire, can't understand what people are whining about. Now I'm just waiting for them to do their thing with the last of the new big three, Hell's Paradise. Personally, that one may be my favorite between this and Jujutsu Kaisen. Definitely has the best pacing and it's a finished story to boot. Luckily, Bleach comes back during the summer along with JJK, so not too much of a wait. Plenty of time to catch up on Goattama :D

CSM's 100% at its weakest during these starting arcs, meaning so many people are going to think the hype it got was undeserved and might not give season 2 a shot. The problem is that manga readers often think of CSM as everything International Assassin and beyond because that's the bulk of the REALLY good stuff. Which isn't an arc we'll see until the second half of season 2, at the earliest. These early arcs aren't bad by any measure, but they absolutely do not live up to the hype the series was given by manga readers who know what's coming next.

2022-12-28 01:42:59 +0000 UTCThe wording is incredibly important. The manga wasn't merely "your death's going to suck", it's "you are going to die in the worst way possible". The wording is exactly what's so important about it. Especially because they didn't just poorly translate it, they translated it in a way that completely loses ALL of the significance and menace. "You are going to die in the worst way possible" isn't even remotely similar to "your death is going to fucking rule". A death that "fucking rules" could just be him going out in a blaze of glory, while a death in the "worst way possible" suggests something far worse. The intent changes drastically between these two translations, even ignoring the fact that "your death will fucking rule" is not even remotely close to what he actually said in Japanese. He literally says the word "saiyaku", which means "the worst". Not only is it a choice that loses the malice and messes up a later plot point, but it completely ignores what the Future Devil actually said and is just a blatantly incorrect translation. The translator just made something up that they felt was in character for the Future Devil, instead of translating the actual words.
