Short sweet and to the point and that new animation is fire! ^-^ I loved when it went from film noir style to full color when Ranpo-san's eyes were opened...literally by Fuzukawa-san! Also yeah at the end when the cop answered him in the car Ranpo-san was like oh really? Yeah he knows what's up as you suspected. ^0^ Oh and just an FYI while Taylor had the drip going on today, I could hear his jacket through the microphone and it was like scratchy over the sound a bit.

2023-01-12 16:24:36 +0000 UTCI don’t know why they cut this part out, but in the light novel, they explained that both of Ranpo's parents were also geniuses and sheltered Ranpo up until the day they died. So basically, his parents were the only people he ever really knew for years and with all of them being geniuses, his intelligence was considered normal for him. When they died, he stepped into the outside world for the first time and was was confused and scared because people were not seeing the things he easily saw and not saying the things he thought everyone already knew. He thought everyone was lying to him and had ulterior motives when they were just normal people with ordinary intelligence. That's the reason why the Fukuzawa lied to him by saying that he had an ability. That way Ranpo would be able to realise that people never despised or lied to him. They're just idiots he can help with his "ability." the reason why Fukuzawa lied end up a bit more confusing that it needed to be. But it was a good episode nonetheless !

2023-01-12 04:26:24 +0000 UTCI absolutely love this episode, because they double down on Ranpo being so confused about how everyone else doesn't just instantly see the solution. He's always solved mysteries pretty much instantly and the fact no one else can is so weird to him, especially when they pay money to witness a mystery that feels so very trivial to him. It makes so much sense that the whole world would feel off to him when he's the only one who's able to solve these mysteries instantly. Also, kudos to Fukuzawa for being so supportive of Ranpo and giving him some confidence. Yes, it relied on some deception and tricked Ranpo into thinking he was gifted, but it's exactly what he needed to become the awesome great detective we all enjoy watching so very much.
