2023-04-15 22:55:00 +0000 UTCAka Akasaka is really special and really doesn’t have anyone doing what he does quite the way he does it! Kaguya Sama and Oshi no Ko under his belt. Part of what makes kaguya an all time fave for me is how he can juggle multiple genres within one show and it works and is seamless. & even with Kaguya the way he addresses mental health shows a deep understanding of people and the commentary Oshi No Ko has on parasocial relationships & how performers are even dehumanized and seen like toys that exist for the consumption of their audience... Perfect. Another reason I’m excited for the next kaguya season bc the material covered definitely touches on what characters are experiencing mentally which we haven’t seen in a while on the show!

2023-04-15 22:22:49 +0000 UTCCan’t wait to watch you all react to this as soon as I get off work. I’m absolutely loving seeing this show get the hype it deserves. Especially when the studio is so obviously passionate about doing this right. I’ve been a huge fan of this series ever since it got the Next Manga Award in 2021 and it’s consistently stayed near the top of my all time favorite manga. The good news is that this is as sad as the series goes, it never hits this same level of pain. The better news is that instead gets shifted to just incredible drama. It becomes an incredibly detailed dive into the often twisted world of entertainment, while also quietly keeping that revenge story in the back and influencing every following story beat. Also, this and the next season are incredible for me personally as I’m suddenly getting adaptations of some of my all time favorite manga. Including, most surprisingly, Helck next season. That’s a SUPER underrated manga I never expected to get an anime. So I’m currently living the best timeline.
