Patreon Feedback
Added 2024-01-29 01:14:04 +0000 UTCHey gamers! It's been a few months since I launched the Patreon, and wanted to give a chance for y'all to give feedback. This can be positive or negative, all I ask is that you are kind and constructive with whatever you say. Thank you again for your support, I will continue to do my best to make this patreon feel like a worthwhile investment.

2024-03-19 13:47:08 +0000 UTCI've been a huge fan after seeing you in the Players Cup in Sword and Shield as my first VGC experience and had no idea what was happening. It's really cool that you made a place to share your knowledge of the game to help people improve and learn new things everyday about team building, why evs are trained a certain way, and many more details that go into team concepts and game plans. Thank you for all the help and I hope you continue to achieve awesome things in your career.

2024-02-23 01:36:43 +0000 UTCHey Wolfe, super appreciating the Patreon, especially your reviews of tournament games. I had one request - I was wondering whether you might be willing to post pastes with EVs of your teams from before the Patreon in SV? I go back and rewatch your old videos sometimes, and you don't always include the complete spreads in the video. Thanks either way!

2024-02-21 03:07:12 +0000 UTCI love all of the stuff you put out here, it’s definitely worth the cost. I’d love to see more team building, maybe alongside the monthly metagame breakdowns talking more about internal synergies.

2024-02-10 00:53:29 +0000 UTCHey wolfe, I messaged you on discord about this but I suppose this is a better spot for it lol. I recently subbed to this right after you won Charlotte. I used your meta breakdown video to prepare for Knoxville and got my first ever top 16! Thank you so much for the content. 10/10

2024-02-10 00:32:23 +0000 UTCI'd love to see a video about how to figure out what to lead in team preview. Not just with a specific team but in general.

2024-02-09 08:34:42 +0000 UTCPerhaps it's not what you want to hear, but I really like the current batch of stuff. The only thing I'd like to see is more road to #1 with off-kilter mons or totally wacky builds. I understand that they're super time-consuming, though.
Alexandra Falk
2024-02-06 07:56:55 +0000 UTCCould you please make a video about how to pick the right 4 pokemon to bring into the battle after seeing the opponent’s team. That is something new players often struggle with. Thanks.
Hai Nguyen
2024-02-06 01:44:51 +0000 UTCI would definitely prefer if you made your own team for the monthly battles, even if it's a joke/gimmick team. Your video "can you win with only apples" is one of my favorites. I also liked the Dynamax counter with eject button. You and a friend came up with a premise and then figured out how you could possibly make it work, which I think is better than using someone else's team that you don't like. I think doing more collab videos with friends who are not big Youtubers would be nice too. It would be nice to give airtime to other very good vgc players who might not have big followings.
Rebecca Yermish
2024-02-04 19:53:53 +0000 UTCSomeone already mentioned this, but having a way for people who can't pay for the champion tier to have their teams reviewed if the maximum amount of teams hasn't been submitted for one reason or another, like if the maximum amount of people aren't in the tier or someone just didn't submit something.

2024-02-02 21:52:41 +0000 UTCYo! Would love to learn more about EV optimization and calcs if that’s an option? Love what’s out thus far though
Briggs Clarke
2024-01-31 23:08:11 +0000 UTCI think it would be awesome for a few single team reviews to be up for grabs each month if a top tier sub doesn't use theirs. Some might not be able to sub at the top tier but could spend X amount every now and then to buy a single review!

2024-01-31 22:09:17 +0000 UTCCheck out the replays I posted for my Charlotte team! This should give you an idea of which pokemon to bring to a matchup which is a huge part of winning

2024-01-31 22:05:39 +0000 UTCHey Wolfe! Glad your asking for input. I love the Patreon so far, and I can’t speak for others but I joined in pursuit of knowledge regarding competitive vgc. I consider myself a novice outside knowing the type chart and most Pokémon. I hit masterball each month but it’s a struggle. What would really help someone like me, would be a general “how to play” with a team. Others have already touched on this, but I tried taking your team online and I had no idea what to do with it. I lost 10 of my 12 games. Maybe adding in a “when you see (insert Pokémon) in a team, you should lead (this mon), and why. I see a lot of good info on here but I still feel generally lost

2024-01-31 18:23:22 +0000 UTCHey Wolfe! I started watching your videos during the pandemic and I became a long-time fan of both of your content and VGC. I think the biggest reason that I subscribed to your Patreon (which I had never done before) was that I really just wanted to be able to watch more of your content, mostly the laid-back talking to the camera-style content. I don't have time to watch streams regularly so the less formal, recorded, rambly videos were what I looked forward to the most. The monthly battle video with a team is that kind of content, but I wholeheartedly agree with what someone commented on in the November video: Limiting the number of games you use the team for/using a team that you don't care as much about really shows through. I could put on an 8-hour VOD of you just grinding ladder or showdown with whatever team that you use and find it fun and interesting. If you had VODs of old streams, maybe you could upload those here as well. Keep up the great work, you have plenty of viewers, me included, who want to support you and watch you make content. Hope you see this, and thank you!

2024-01-31 18:19:34 +0000 UTCGreat work at Charlotte, you’ve inspired me to try VGC myself and have got a long way to go. My hope is to battle in Orlando Regional! As for Patreon I do miss seeing the road to series or the bring (insert mon name) to Top Rank. It was for sure a nice watch to have while having long tedious work. So maybe an option of not only choosing the mon but also which one to do as I know it is greatly time consuming and can be a bit stressful. Besides that I’ve found all the other perks really great and helpful. Hope to see more from the best!

2024-01-31 17:24:08 +0000 UTCI would really love maybe even a small guide on how to analyze our own personal play to improve so how you take your laddering sessions and how you refine a team from it or how you review the fights to better improve our play or team we are building

2024-01-31 14:46:53 +0000 UTCThe fact that you asked this made me re-subscribe. I was subscribed for a couple of months but I did cancel because of the lack of 'resources' for competitive VGC. Thinks I would love: 1. You playing sets with a popular ongoing team(s) and analysis their strenghts and weaknesses . 2. I wonder if you have the bandwith to do things like 'Skill Capped' or/and 'Synapse'. There are no such things for VGC. 3. Organize something and make a video out of it. Like when you invited BoxBox to play pokemon. That was great

2024-01-31 04:43:59 +0000 UTCBig fan! I wonder if it makes sense to rethink the monthly team video. I’m currently subscribed at your highest tier, and I personally am here for more competitive content. I also saw that you previously didn’t have anyone submit a video for a while, so maybe it’s not that popular with others as well (but you would know best). By far the biggest value add was the Charlotte regional team, but obviously you can share your tournament teams only so often. I was thinking that maybe you can highlight a competitive team (similar to what CybertronVGC does) and write up a short guide on how to play it. I was thinking you can just choose a team that did well at an event that you also think was created smartly, keep as is or make some slight tweaks, then provide a short guide like you did for your Charlotte team. Just food for thought - would be personally very valuable to me!

2024-01-31 00:26:02 +0000 UTCBig fan of both the Patreon and the actual YouTube content. Only thing is that it would be nice to have more videos with a detailed explanation behind your thought process while building your team and how you approach certain positions and situations in general.

2024-01-30 14:01:24 +0000 UTCFirst off your patreon is amazing! I love your content and you are an inspiration to me Wolfe. You got me back into competitive Pokemon back in Sw/Sh and while i dont have time to go to tournaments I do play on the ladder sometimes and taking this game seriously makes me happy. As for recommendations for how to improve the patreon the only things I can think of to make it better would be patreon/discord events like in house tournaments or movie nights and maybe misc sub only streams where we watch you play tft or other things you find fun.

2024-01-30 10:52:43 +0000 UTCHi, just joined mainly because I want to take the competitive scene more seriously, wanted to congratulate you for your team success at Liverpool and you winning your 8th regional in Charlotte. Just wanted to say keep up the good work, I'll be waiting to see how things will go from here as it's my first season playing VGC (Lille and Liverpool, heading for Dortmund and EUIC)

2024-01-30 09:33:21 +0000 UTCNice work so far Wolfe. Really enjoying the content and from my side what I like best is the variety of content relating to a single team (e.g. your winning charlotte team). This is different from other content creators who focus on different teams all the time but only give brief details on them and how to use them. It is the combination of the different types of content that has really helped me so far and more so than other content providers so thank you. Quick summary of what I find helpful: 1. Paste is great because I like to build the teams in game and then makes all your comments make sense. 2. The written team report is super helpful to identify key calcs when using the team and start to understand what benchmarks are important. 3. Practice games on showdown are really helpful as it teaches you how to play with team against common teams 4. Meta breakdown also helps over all knowledge on what to expect when using the team. All in all I have my best showdown and in game ladder results so far using this content.

2024-01-30 05:07:55 +0000 UTCi love everything so far. it would be really cool if the patreon community could interact more and have like patreon events or something like that. id dont know what they could be but that sounds like a fun idea

2024-01-30 02:26:44 +0000 UTCBig fan of the content thus far, in particular the meta game breakdowns. I really like the vibe of the patreon vids being like old school bonus Wolfe stuff. Everyone seems to have mentioned teambuilding, but I'd personally enjoy some more stuff that's just like reacting to random stuff (like the old Jaiden Nuzlocke reacts or reacting to pokemon memes) or vlog/storytelling stuff like the bagel video since those are always entertaining to me.
Blake Falls
2024-01-29 21:33:39 +0000 UTCBagel style content has always been some of the most entertaining to me as well lol

2024-01-29 21:29:55 +0000 UTCI'm a new patreon member, but long-time wideo viewist. I've been interested in learning more about your mindset and thought process, similar to your "Pokemon but I actually try" video, your "I got [this pokemon] to rank 1 in the world" videos, and the "Begging other World Champions for Help" video (as a more teambuiding-specific example). There's probably too much to cover for each scenario (bo3 ots, bo1 cts, longer play sessions, what to look for when practicing, etc.) but it would be interesting to see how someone who consistently performs at such a high level goes through their decision-making process.
Tubtuca
2024-01-29 18:07:06 +0000 UTCMore: Your Leads & Lines vs. common meta archetypes to prepare for. Replays are 🔥! Less: Emphasis on Bo3 OTS, to help people that play the Bo1 CTS ladder or online GC tournaments.

2024-01-29 12:27:53 +0000 UTCI've been loving the Patreon just as it is now Wolfe. There is a steady flow of content being added, it's not too cluttered with post after post and in the end this is just a little extra that us supporters can use. We all know just how swamped you and your crew are with the YouTube channel and your competitions so being able to make time for this is just awesome. Now, if you are ever running out ideas for content Wolfe, this is also a place to ask for suggestions. For example, I would one day like to have the chance to battle you myself and I'm sure other patrons would too. Other than that, I think the Patreon is doing just fine. Congratulations on the Charlotte Regionals Wolfe!

2024-01-29 10:09:42 +0000 UTCReally enjoying the Patreon, and great job asking for feedback. It would be very easy not to! I think (might be wrong) but what a lot of people are asking for in practical team building is covered in either https://www.vgcguide.com or I remember an old team building guide video you did (probs 2020?) which laid everything out in a lot of detail (update, found it: https://youtu.be/yBw6UXAiq0A?si=inpOd1fP08NmfYF3). That said, I’d love help in what takes a team from good to great and how to do it. How do you work out what be EVing for, when is it okay to be weak to a particular type, when should your team have a Superb Owl on it? Would also love to see some collabs with other great team builders, Aaron(s), Markus, Ray to name a few who can shed a light on what they do differently to you… And… (now I’m being really hopeful) draft league?!
Henry Ellis
2024-01-29 09:15:25 +0000 UTCI've been loving the content so far! What I would love to see is probably not something I should expect from a player of your level, as I understand this patreon is mostly for more seasoned players, but I'm gonna say it whatever. I'm super new to vgc, got interested this summer after finding you on YouTube. I've played my first ever ladder game in December with some rental teams. I feel that I'd love to try building my own team, but what I'm still confused with is how do I achieve exact IV-EV spreads on my in-game pokemon, especially if we're speaking about legendaries. Even after watching your video on breeding 3 times, I'm still confused on how do I transfer those spreads I can theoretize in Showdown, for example, into the actual game. So if you could make a newbie video on how do you create your actual team in-game, I'd be happy 😄 Otherwise, keep up the great work!

2024-01-29 06:24:15 +0000 UTCI'll echo what others have said but I think it'd be awesome to have some videos showcasing the teambuilding process from the ground-up. I feel like not many content creators really go into this sort of thing at an intense level of detail and I think it'd be cool to see. Your teams have such a deep level of thought behind them and I'd love to see more on your thought process when starting out and approaching a format/tournament.

2024-01-29 05:32:55 +0000 UTCYour classic style video format is stellar, and if u just did more full discussion/breakdown/talk about bagels, it would be great. Candid Wolfe is best Wolfe. Thanks for all the content.

2024-01-29 03:57:18 +0000 UTCI second this, I'd just like more spent on the meta videos since those are the ones I like the most and would like even more to be discussed.

2024-01-29 03:54:44 +0000 UTCHonestly the biggest thing I’d like to see is a weekly “here’s what’s coming this week” post. I find I get more out of your content when I’m able to sit down and just watch it rather than put it on in the background while I’m doing work, but since your content is also pretty timely it’s difficult to schedule myself some time to do so if I don’t know when something’s coming out
Cori Jobman
2024-01-29 03:35:40 +0000 UTCI for one would love more team building theory videos. it feels like the highest levels of VGC are mostly won by team building groups, so it's hard for regular joes to figure out how to make a good, competitive team that isn't just a recreation of whatever Cybertron or James Baek just played with
Eliana
2024-01-29 03:11:28 +0000 UTCI've enjoyed the content quite a bit. As a newcomer to VGC I especially liked the recent post Charlotte meta-game analysis. Feels like that one video was worth the subscription not to mention all the other content. I'm happy to see the old bonus wolf content style popping up as well. The personal feel is a nice treat for patrons.

2024-01-29 02:23:16 +0000 UTCLove the content as well! But I’m a casual player and watcher. I just really think you are one of the few YouTubers that is truly humble and you make content for us which is what I appreciate the most. And I love all the professional insight to the game and the awesome teams. But, I would also like to see a little more casual content on here. Something like you playing a nuzlocke or a Kaizo run. Thanks for all you do man. I really appreciate it and I can’t wait to show my son your content once he’s old enough to understand it. That’s another reason I support you. You’re one of the few YouTubers I feel like my children will be able to watch and I feel comfortable leaving them to freely watch your content. So thank you for that. Once again, thanks for all you do. I’m just some random millennial, with a family, and above average gaming skills since I’ve been gaming for 20 years now. Not some hardcore Pokémon player or generally someone who is into the internet culture since twitch came to be due to life. But, as my life is slowing down and I’m now a father & husband. Finding good content on the internet is very hard. And you are one of the very very very few out there. So keep doing what you’re doing, just throw in a nuzlocke for fun every once in awhile! 🫡

2024-01-29 02:18:00 +0000 UTCLove all the content! One note I have is the Android Patreon app UI does not allow you to select/copy text from vote options (e.g. https://pokepast.es/9bcf3a0769f84057). I can work around it by going through a web browser. But if you could find a way to make the mobile experience of participating in team selection smoother, that'd be great. Keep up the great work!

2024-01-29 02:06:00 +0000 UTCI've been loving the content so far, thank you! Definitely a worthwhile investment. I especially like the metagame breakdown videos, and that when releasing a team, you also leave a write-up detailing more info about why you made some of the decisions that you did with the team. Have you considered doing a teambuliding video, where you'd more or less start from scratch and explain the thought process in how/why you select Pokemon/moves/EVs/etc. (maybe for a team you'd use to try and get Rank 1 on ladder - even if you wait to post it after you hit rank 1)? I think this would be an amazing resource and great companion to VGC Guide even though the team you build probably wouldn't be meta relevant forever as the formats change.
Bobby Fisco
2024-01-29 02:00:02 +0000 UTCHey, Wolfey. Like some other people already said, I think it would be nice if we could have a more in depth strategy focused content, like what makes a good team within a certain format, how is your thought process on team preview and also while seeing an open sheet, what kind of notes u take during a match, etc. Overall, really happy with the content so far and it’s been worth it, thank u so much!

2024-01-29 01:48:39 +0000 UTCI just want to share that I’m mega new to VGC (started seriously learning after your 2023 worlds video) and the Patreon has been such an incredibly valuable resource. I’ve learned so much since I joined, and I’m excited to continue improving. Congrats on Charlotte!

2024-01-29 01:43:22 +0000 UTCHey Wolfe! I’m loving the content so far. If I were to suggest something, I’d like to see more strategy-focused videos, teaching competitive plays beyond the basics. I would assume most of your audience is well acquainted with EVs, IVs and the basics of competitive, but I believe most of us would benefit from some more in-depth strategy guides, i.e. What makes a good team, how to choose your lead, how to pivot and position, your overall thought-process during a match. Anyway, I think the content is great and very helpful for those (like me) trying to start to play more competitively – I would just like to get more insights on strategy.
Rodrigo Serafim Ferrari
2024-01-29 01:35:14 +0000 UTCHey Wolfe, I would love to see longer meta break downs and discussion around anti meta Pokemon videos.
Last Horizon
2024-01-29 01:35:02 +0000 UTCPersonally I think so. It’s fun to get you to grade teams or look at them but I would rather see a “World Champ Difference” take on mons with your greater experience and game sense as that can then be used to expand our own abilities and perspectives!

2024-01-29 01:32:14 +0000 UTCThis is a great idea. Personally, the patron team submission video is the least interesting of the three monthly videos. I would love to see the process of building a team from the ground up in more depth

2024-01-29 01:30:26 +0000 UTCHey Wolfe, the patron so far has been great its always great to have insight on the vgc scene/seeing the tourney/practice vods. The only thing id nit pick would be if there's a better way to submit teams. Outside of that thanks for the Awesome content.

2024-01-29 01:16:44 +0000 UTCI think the Patreon has been extremely worth it so far. Being able to see select videos when I otherwise wouldn't be able to is great, and the quality of the videos is also excellent! I like watching you go for gimmicky and interesting strategies so perhaps if you ever don't know what you want to post, consider something simple like that? You have an entertaining personality so I feel like even simple content such as that would be valid. Keep up the great work!
