Welcome to the 2nd Floor of the Pirate Fort of Velkarta, a cramped and dim collection of candlelit hallways, large chambers and defensive fortifications.
   

The 2nd Floor contains a variety of useful chambers to continue your narrative, as well as several common components of a working castle.


[1] HALL OF THE PIRATE KING/QUEEN
T

his large stone chamber features dirty tile floors and two roaring hearths. A raised wooden platform on the southern wall features a red velvet chair serving as throne to the ruling Pirate King or Queen. Wooden tables stacked upon matted animal hides are laden with food, drink and cracked plates, where pirates generally gather to hold court and celebrate victories.


[2] ARMORY


This modest armory contains a few tables stacked with simple blades, leather armor, shields, a few helms and stacks of wooden crossbows. Note: A close examination may notice some of the weapons bear marks of a variety of different craftsman, obviously stolen at sea.


[3] SAILOR BARRACKS


This barracks provides sleeping quarters for some of the more veteran and favored sailors, allowed to live on the same floor as the captain. This right has likely been won only through repeated demonstrations of loyalty. A variety of gear lays strewn about stacked crates along the wall, and a hammock serves as home to Cutlass, the sailor’s adopted cat.


[4] OFFICER QUARTERS


Two soft beds line the walls, providing these officers with a modicum of privacy. A door leads into an adjoining barracks, while the small room contains a large wardrobe, wooden chest, writing table and small end tables.

[5] BALLISTA TOWER


These defensive towers are accessed by stairs from the upper level and overlook the bay and village below. Archers may also take place at several slits along the wall.


[6] LONG HALL


The long hall contains a few weapons racks, crossbows on stacks of crates near slits, soft bunks and assorted barrels and chests. A wooden door leads outside to a stairway accessing the inner yard.


[7] TINKER’S QUARTERS


The resident pirate tinker lives here, working on contraptions and designs to augment the ship.


[8] CAPTAIN’S OFFICE


The favored captain of the Pirate King or Queen has an office here, where they meet with their superior and officers, pay out sailors and manage boat business.


[9] CAPTAIN’S QUARTERS


These sparse quarters provide the favored captain with comfortable quarters and a view of the northern sea.


[10] OLD LIBRARY


This old library holds a few stacks of ale barrels and a round table swimming in maps and scrolls. Wooden bookshelves line the walls, stacked with dusty books.


[11] QUARTERS OF THE PIRATE KING/QUJEEN


This spacious private quarters contains a lush king-sized bed and bench. Two large couches crowd the corner, framing a table holding an unfurled map. Wooden wardrobes and chests stand against the northern wall, while a cabinet and table stand to the south.


[12] SECRET TREASURE TROVE


This secret room is accessed by trick cabinet and holds stacks of crates, barrels and other stolen booty.
