Multiple Floors as Assets vs. Maps

There will occasionally be maps, like the forthcoming Umbrage Hill, that feature a large base map with a single building (i.e. mill tower) that contains multiple floors.

My question to you is the following:

1. Do you prefer to have this in the form of 3 full maps (70 x 40), where the only difference is the floor of the mill/tower?

2. OR do you prefer to have 1 full map (70 x 40) of the base floor, and then PNG assets of Floors 2 and 3 that you can layer in VTT on top of the original map?

3. OR...I want both.

Let me know which you would prefer, so I can plan how to roll it out.

Thanks!

Jeff

I think, for FVTT perfect option will be like you did for Stonehill Inn - on the same map, but there is additional space for the upper floor. Why for FVTT it's perfect? because there players could use multilevel/teleport modules to go to up/down floor

I'm all for both, as there would be some situations on Foundry where it would be useful to run as a single map with layers, and some of them would be better as different maps for significant scene changes. Biggest reason for individual maps over layers is the interactions with walls between two different levels for Foundry

Yes, someone else mentioned the same thing and I've figured out how to do it the way that I would want, so I'll include that version, as well!

What about a single map with smaller areas like these in a cordoned off corner/section of the map as is traditionally seen?
