Red Canyon Bandit Camp [40 x 100]

This  battle map began as a response to a random DM on Facebook asking if  anybody had a good "Canyon Maze Map" for his party that was going to be  escaping the clutches of a group of bandits in the desert. After  creating that map (the lower half of the large map), I decided it would  be fun to also include an actual bandit camp that linked up with the  maze.

The result is [2] maps creating a 40 x 100 battle map that includes the bandit camp to on the north end,  and a sprawling, twisty canyon to the south, riddled with caves, plants  and the potential dangers of the wild.

The  bandit camp is comprised of several small, medium and large tents, with  a main gate and a somewhat concealed side entrance overgrown with  thornbrush. The leader resides upon the top of a small ridge in the  middle of their camp, while protective walls rise high about them. A  small lake, fed by an underwater river, provides ample water for their  small numbers.

Other areas of note  include a kitchen and storage area, guard station near the front gate,  holding pens along the west side, a shaman's cave upon the southeastern  ridge of the camp and the Great Cave, leading into a cavern that can  shelter the entire camp's population in times of dangerous storms or  other threats, filled with unexplored, twisting tunnels.

Adventure Hooks

1. The bandits have recently captured a merchant caravan and its crew,  holding  them in the pens while deciding who lives and who dies, and  concerned  family and/or business partners have hired the party to  infiltrate and  free them.
2. The party, themselves, have been captured by bandits and must seek a way to escape the pens, reclaim their goods and make their escape.
3. A particularly valuable item was lifted from a caravan recently by the bandits, and the party has been hired to locate the precious good amongst the camp and return it, with or without bloodshed.
4. Rumor has it that the bandits hold something of great value deep within the Great Cave, and the party has been given a map of the tunnels should they be able to find the camp, make their way quietly in and enter the cave system.
