Church of Aelor | Lower Level Map Pack!

Hey guys! Happy to bring you another map and the 2nd Part of the Church of Aelor that was released earlier this month.

The Church of Aelor Lower Level includes both a new and old section of the church, part of which is commonly used today for a variety of tasks, and a forgotten section that is much older than the rest of the structure, hidden away to be discovered.

To download the Map Pack, please click on your Tier link below and the download URL will be listed there in map release order.

Here's a Concept Image for the Lower Level Storage Room:

And here's an example of the Lower Level Map:

I've also included a Video Walkthrough of this map and my thoughts, if it helps you get an idea of how I envisioned the space being used -- this will be included in the Map Pack ZIP files for your listening and viewing pleasure. ;)

The NEW Lower Level contains the following:

Storage Rooms - at the base of two stairs leading out of the sanctuary above are two storage rooms filled with grain sacks, barrels of water and crates of staple foods.

Buttery - held in a cooler area of the church are many barrels of wine, mead and other forms of drink held for celebrations, ceremonies and against hardship.

Lower Sanctuary - located just below the Main Sanctuary of the church main level, this pillared hall features little besides a stone altar, upon which rests a the holy book of Aelor. Doors lead into small rooms on either side of the entrance to a small Supply Closet and a Small Bedroom that belongs to one of the priests living down here.

Medicine Room - Wooden tables lined with jars, jugs and containers filled with ingredients line the wall of this room, while a small table holds a mortar and pestle, open book and instructions on how to brew powerful poultices and medicines. Cabinets filled with prepared tinctures, elixirs and bandages stand ready against the walls.

Infirmary - Separated from the rest of the church is a room filled with simple beds and sparse furnishings. Some of the beds are taken by the sick, while others hold bodies not yet given to the earth. This is where the longer-term sick and infirm come to rest before they either make a recovery or come to join the others resting here.

Common Hall - A set of stairs from the Main Hall upstairs empties into a broad stone chamber containing a long table, chairs and bookshelves. Priests tend to studies here and watch over the crypt entry and infirmary.

Sleeping Quarters - A modest sleeping quarters with four beds and other furnishings is here, offering respite to shifts of priests assigned to tend to the sick and wounded, patrol the lower level or hold ceremonies in the Lower Sanctuary.

Artifact Chamber - This chambers contains two large statues, their stone palms extended to support a silver staff with a brilliant sapphire gem wrapped between silvery wings. The relic belongs to the church and is used in dire times to aid the wounded, when possible. Part of the wall of this room was expertly paved over a secret door that leads toward the Old section of the lower level.

Crypt - This expansive crypt contains several standing coffins, as well as broad stone carved containers capable of holding several bodies.

The OLD Lower Level contains the following:

Crypt of the Old King - This chamber is centuries older than the church itself and was adjoined to it long ago when the church was created, but sealed shortly thereafter by those who knew of its presence, but allowed the knowledge to be lost to time. The chamber also features a stairway below the large statue outside the church. The Crypt contains several standing coffins, pillars and the sarcophagus of an Old King, the history of which is mostly left up to your homebrew lore and narrative.

Relic Rooms - Two rooms adjoin the Crypt, each containing a single altar and relic related to the Church's faith. Whether these be gifts or tools left from the previous builders to help fight against the entity buried here in case of trouble is unclear.

Treasure Room - Located down a set of stairs to the north of the Crypt is a large treasure room filled with piles of gold, chests filled with various treasures, scrolls and gems. The chamber can be a reward or a test, depending on how you want to use the encounter.

The Map Pack is designed to be used primarily as a the PNG Tile for easy switching between the main level and this level, but other file types are included for those of you using it a different way.

As we do now, I've a fine Sprite from Katsudon Art of the Old King in the Crypt:

I hope you guys enjoy this map and can use it for some fun encounters and storytelling in your homebrew worlds.

Comments

They will be in an illustration pack this month. :)

I love both of the Church maps. They are what made me subscribe! Is there something I'm missing though? The files don't seem to include files for the artifact as mentioned in the walkthrough videos. Just want to know if I'm missing something or if you decided against including art images for the artifacts.
