It's ya boy Kev!

Pretend the eyes changes colors in the last two panels. Once there's color it'll make more sense.

As I've gotten older I've found it more difficult to play classic turn based RPGs. If it's something I've played before and have nostalgia for then it's fine. Stuff like Final Fantasy 9, Chrono Trigger, and so on. But anything new I'm super reluctant to play because I've never been super into that style of gameplay to begin with. The only reason I tolerated it was because A: I liked the stories in those games, and B: that's all we had. Once action RPGs started becoming the norm I immediately jumped ship and would play those types of games instead. That's why I could enjoy something like FFXV and not Bravely Default.

But oh man is Octopath Traveler awesome!

Honestly the look of the game is my biggest hook. It gives me those FF6 vibes but with an updated look that is stylistically interesting to me despite not being super graphically intensive. Figuring out the weaknesses in enemies while being shown when I get one correct makes me wanna try out different attacks instead of constantly spamming basic attacks just to get shit out of the way. Music is nice and I like having the voice overs, even if a few characters sound weird (the merchant girl's mom immediately made me think of Bobby's mom from Bobby's World). If you got a Nintendo Switch hit up that 3 hour demo that has the prologues for all 8 characters and give it a whirl.

My biggest complaint is the price of the game being $60 at launch. I understand games cost money to produce, but Octopath Traveler feels more comparable to a $40 3DS game than something like Zelda BotW or Super Mario Odyssey. If Nintendo had continued with separating their console and handheld line I can't imagine Octopath Traveler not being released on the handheld vs. the console.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it regardless.

He's felt something every time except that one time a few years back because, pfft, continuity amirite?

Regarding the sequence... Is this the first time since 'initialization' that Kevin has felt any discomfort from sealing the suit? Hmmm...

I am hyped for Octopath. I cant wait to see what it brings to the old genre

I could never get into turn-based RPGs. Maybe I'm not a patient enough gamer.
