With the end of the spring anime season having arrived, I'm having to go through my queue on crunchyroll and start taking off series that I started but ultimately fell off. Usually it's stuff that I either lost interest or haven't been in the mood to get around to watching. Biggest one is Megalobox because that show is super awesome, so I'll probably have to make a day to watch the rest of it. Fell off around episode 6. Uma Musume Pretty Derby lost me around episode 8. It's cute and all, but I sorta saw where it was going by that point and didn't see much of a reason to continue watching. Behind on Lupin, but considering I never finished series 4 either it's not entirely suprising to me. Lupin is Lupin, so it's not like I'm missing that much. That'll probably be the next dubbed show I watch while working after My Hero Academia.
The shows I did manage to keep up with were Steins;Gate 0, Hinamatsuri, and Golden Kamuy.
Hinamatsuri is weird in that I didn't jump onto the show when it started. A friend of mine had to tell me about it because it wasn't on my radar. Hot damn was that show hilarious, as in I laughed out loud at times. None of that exhale from my nose with a smile shit. You go into it thinking it might go into some big psychic powers battle bullshit story but it doesn't at all. Instead it focuses on these fun characters and their interactions with one another, like a middle schooler suddenly becoming a bartender because her friend ditched her, or a psychic girl becoming a homeless vagrant but finding family in a bunch of homeless old men. Good shit.
Golden Kamuy is kinda weird. There's pacing issues with plot points seeming to hop around at a brisk pace. "Oh look, this guy might be a villain for awhi- Oh. He's dead now. But now there's this other guy! Oh, he's gone in the next episode. Wait! Now there's... Oh." The animation also tends to take a hit at times too. However, what keeps me interested is the setting. It's shortly after the Russo-Japan War in Hokkaido, following an ex soldier working with an young Ainu girl trying to find a stash of gold stolen from the Ainu people. You don't see that much anime that focuses on the Ainu, much less having actual Ainu voice characters in their native tongue. It's quite interesting in that aspect and I recommend checking it out for that alone.
I don't have that much to say regarding Steins;Gate 0. It's more Steins;Gate. If you liked the older series you'll probably like the new one. There isn't as much time traveling/timeline hopping shenanigans like the previous series, but it's been a ride more or less.
