Added 2018-08-30 07:17:40 +0000 UTCThe other night I was digging through my old HDD and found some old visual novels I pirated like almost a decade ago, one of them being Kanon with an english patch. Back then I wasn't a super huge fan of the art in it since I preferred the art in the anime, but looking back now the art is SUPER bad. Especially the sex scenes. God forbid if you happened to be a background character in the game.
At the same time it felt super nostalgic playing through it. Back then I was super into wanting to make my own awesome visual novel, and had gotten started on what eventually wound up becoming Dying With Thyself. Of course my "become super famous western visual novel maker" dreams never came to fruition, and I doubt I'd seriously tackle another one of any decent length again. Shits hard, yo. But yeah, I had some big aspirations back then, but I also would never want to go back to that era of my life either. Community college while working as a cashier at a grocery store for a quarter over minimum wage? Fuck that noise.
What I do miss back then was talking with friends in real life about creating shit. Taking walks in the middle of the night without too much of a care. It was fun.
