I was watching some of Gamespot's "History of Video Games" videos when I started going through the history of Persona. One of my biggest gaming regrets is never getting far in Persona 4.
Bit of history: I bought the initial release for PS2 back when it first came out. I really dug the atmosphere, characters, and the overall style of the game. However, my issue came with needing to grind. This was around the time when I really started to fall off playing RPGs, as I was working my part time job around 30+ hours a week on top of starting college. I was never a fan of grinding in RPGs in the first place, but by this point I've become way more aware of time management. There was only so much time between classes and work, and I didn't want to spend the time running in circles killing mobs. Because of this I wound up rushing too fast in the game.
Could never beat him. The fight would get drawn out, then I'd get killed by some bullshit attack, and then walk away from the game. I tried fighting him again years later in 2011 as the anime was coming out and I really wanted to see more of the game. But nope! Couldn't do it. I flat out quit.
I later bought a Vita TV and a copy of Golden to try going through it again on the easiest mode possible, but I wound up falling off the game relatively quick and played other stuff. There's always new stuff coming out that takes my attention away from games that results in me never going back to them because it's been so long that I either forget how to play or don't know what the fuck I was doing.
I hope to get through it one day. It's pretty nostalgic for me now. But man, fucking Shadow Kanji.
