Was looking through the "Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market 2016" and looking up publishing houses. A common thread was "No unsolicited work," which was already knew would be a case for the majority of them. What really sucked was "Release 1-3 years after acceptance." That really blows. Be excited to get your book picked up only for it to not release until 3 years later.
In other news, I started reading Kimagure Orange Road. As someone who has not had any sort of nostalgia for it and reading it with decades worth of romantic comedies having done things KOR has done, it's okay I guess. Misunderstandings out the wazoo, protagonist who needs a punch in the face for not making himself clear with the girl who is head over heals for him that he's not interested, and because it came out in the 80s he has ESP. I like the old art. Only two volumes in, so who knows, but I'm not holding my breathe for something to blow my mind in awe.
Also, it's fun to imagine flipping through WSJ and read Kimagure Orange Road then the next page is City Hunter.
