Had my appointment with the back specialist today. The good news: structurally my back is pretty fine, albeit the issues that were found in the MRI, which he said weren't too worrisome. X-ray showed no signs of warping or the like. There won't be any need for surgery.
As for the pain, he said it's more than likely going to be something I'll just have to mitigate for the rest of my life. AKA "you're old". I'll be trying another prescription pain medication and then see about physical therapy around the end of January.
Don't grow old, kids. Take it from me, at the old age of 30.
