Anywho, last night I went to see Promare and hot damn was it fun! It had this energy all throughout the film that I constantly wanted to bail the theater and go home to draw. The aesthetics, the character designs, the music, everything about it got my creative instincts revving up to high gear. If you like Gurren Lagann or Kill La Kill then this will be a must see for you.
I saw the dub last night, with the subtitled version coming to theaters tomorrow night. But honestly this is something you'll want to see dub just so you can focus on the animation 100% of the time. It helps that the dub was really good. My boys Crispin Freeman, Steve Blum, and Johnny Yong Bosch were in it, who are always nice to hear. It actually took me a bit to recognize Freeman's voice as he was pitching down for a good chunk. But whenever he raised his voice I could hear good ol' Spark, Zelgadis, and Kyon.
The music was done by Sawano, who did the music for Attack on Titan. I've been listening to inferno on loop a lot since last night while I work on stuff. It pumps me up and helps me envision some really cool scenes in my head that I hope to one day put down in writing.
