Weathering With You has a US theatrical release date: January 17.

As a fan of Makoto Shinkai, I'm really fucking pumped. I've been listening to the soundtrack with little to no context as to what scenes they're used in. It's gonna be nice seeing Shinkai telling the same kind of story for the... (checks notes) 7th time. But hey, that's sorta what you expect going into his films.

One things I miss in Shinkai's more recent films is the lack of a score by Tenmon. His music did a bang up job at really setting the mood for those films. Here's a couple of choice songs his that I really enjoy. I know they probably won't work well with a mainstream audience that Shinkai is moving towards, but I miss his scores. Weirder though is that he hasn't done much since Children Who Chase Lost Voices if Wikipedia is anything to go by. Did something happen to him? Like he got married and had a kid and decided to take things slow or something? I want more music that makes me feel sad, dammit!

Oh well.
