New chapter is go! No short story filler shit!

Anyway, I saw The Lighthouse on Saturday. Went into it with absolutely no knowledge about it other than it being a Drama/Horror and Willem Dafoe is in it. I've never seen The Witch, so I had no reference point to go into it. My fear was that I was gonna dislike it/find it boring like Annihilation.

What I did not expect was some mermaid vagina and a lot of masturbation.

In all honesty, I feel like I need to see it again. I didn't dislike it, but as I was watching it I kept wondering if I was enjoying it. Like I knew there was something going on, but I was too stupid to know what it was. It wasn't until I got home and looked things up, saw the director's intent, and then it all clicked in my head. Because of that I want to check it out again, except bring someone else along with me just so they can bask in the bizarreness that is that film.

It also wasn't really much of a horror film at all. There's tense moments, but there's never anything that's "scary." Hell, there were plenty of moments that were pretty funny, like Willem Dafoe and that other guy from Twilight I guess arguing like an old married couple about Dafoe's cooking.

I'll leave off with that.

In anime news: continuing my journey through Patlabor TV as I've been meaning to do for the longest time. Made it past the halfway point and been enjoying it. For years I was always told it's giant robot Seinfeld, and while that's true for some episodes, Oshii will occasionally pop out a serious episode or two to mix things up. Personally I like the low stakes episodes, like when this dude hijacks an airplane with a bomb threat.
