Madison's back, acting like her regular self!
It's a new season, which means 40 odd new anime series are coming out! Most of which I won't bother watching at all! I will check out a few, though!
first one I watched was Somali and the Forest Spirit. It's one of those stories of a guy finding a little girl and her traveling with him, in what I assume to be finding her home/people, except this time it's a golem taking on the role as protector. The setting is an interesting world full of monsters, with humanity supposedly killed off after a war with the monsters and getting eaten by them, making the search for them more difficult. It's a vibrant fantasy world with a cool looking locale so far, with the variety of monsters ranging from cool looking to generic. But hey, not every background character can win the character design lottery!
Also because it's a golem, we don't have to worry about the story eventually turning into the adopted father and daughter becoming romantic partners like other similar type anime/manga! So that's a plus! Knocks on wood.

The next show I watched was Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! It's Masaaki Yuasa's latest series, and right off the bat it's my show of the season. The set up is a girl who becomes inspired by Hayao Miyazaki's "Future Boy Conan" and wants to create an anime inspired by where she lives. Whereas she can concept a world and backgrounds, she's lacking in the ability to draw characters. But as fate has it, she comes across the daughter of a large conglomerate who too wants to create an anime, but can only really pull off character art and not backgrounds. Combine the two and you got a recipe for some fun as shit concepting between characters!
For real, the show does a great job at showing the sort of high one gets when they start concepting cool stories/scenarios with friends. Adding on details as you go along, whipping up art samples/writing/etc. I know I've plenty of those in my time! The animation where it animates literal roughs and concept art makes the show a hell of a lot fun!
Of course, time will tell where the show goes, but for the time being I'm loving the hell out of it.
