There's a new Sorcerous Stabber Orphen anime out that's essentially a remake. Now, I never saw the original Orphen series. Just its sequel: Revenge. This was way back in my more formative years when I was watching whatever was coming out on The Anime Network On Demand on Comcast. Can't say that I remember jack shit about it, but I recall enjoying it.

Saw the first episode of the remake and thought it was alright. Animation was good, and it was cool seeing those old 90s designs in a modern look. But then I went back and checked out the first episode of the original series and, man, I just love that old cel look. Everything's dirtier looking, which works with that sort of fantasy world. I imagine the new show will look fine, and can probably do a lot more cool shit using modern techniques, but I have a hard on for physical cel animation.

I might wait on Funimation to do one of their simuldubs for it and blast through it later.
