In my continuing adventures of putting Aim for the Ace on hold, I decided to pop in my copy of Crusher Joe: The Movie, which I got during the last Discotek sale over at Right Stuf.

Man oh MAN is it a joy to watch! Fantastic animation! Character's don't just stand around frozen with their mouth flaps when they talk. They're always moving, even if it's subtle. Just check out this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqGN_OSoHrw

Despite it just being a simple scene of the characters sitting around talking, there's a lot of movement and emoting going on. And the entire movie is like this. Jump to any point and you'll more than likely come across some neat character animation. Plus there's visual gags and references galore, such as Char popping up in the background in one scene, or animators and mangaka showing up themselves.

With this being a Yoshikazu Yasuhiko joint, you won't be disappointed with the animation.

Story is fun, space adventure fare. It won't blow your mind but it's enjoyable.

English dub is pretty mediocre as it's an old Animeigo dub, so go for the Japanese audio track if you check it out.
