aa Here's a poll:
Added 2017-12-02 20:55:39 +0000 UTCI've had a few people on curiouscat asking me for what would amount to a follow-up to the frogmen video, where I talk about my own experiences with politics online, the things I used to believe/how I grew out of them, learning about feminism & social justice & all that. I think this is because i briefly mentioned being someone who could easily have fallen into the alt-right trap in that video.
This would be more of a personal video talking about myself & my experiences. I'm hesitant to put this out through patreon unannounced, since it'd be a kinda different approach from what I usually do. But i'm also hesitant to spend the time making it if it's something people don't wanna see! So here I am, asking your advice
Thanks folks

I wouldn't mind hearing about your experiences. Nothing wrong with testing the waters and seeing how your audience responds. If it doesn't work out, then you learn from it. If it's a good idea, then you've got a new avenue for future videos, as well.

2017-12-14 03:35:07 +0000 UTCIf ye don't feel comfortable with doing this video then don't. Either way I'll still support ye.

2017-12-11 11:01:29 +0000 UTCI really feel that is a video i'd need right now. But only do what you're comfortable with.
2017-12-05 06:20:36 +0000 UTCDepending on how comfortable you are putting personal info out there or putting in the extra time for a video, I'd personally be fine with a Patron-only and/or written version of this. Although of course a video would be a bit more engaging and could serve as useful reference for any future videos on this topic so you don't have to repeat yourself.

2017-12-04 16:59:32 +0000 UTCSo long as you're comfortable making it! It could be very illuminating for people.
2017-12-03 20:09:25 +0000 UTCIt sounds like hearing about your journey could really help people. It’s important to remind everyone - even us - that no one was born with ideological purity. We all had some busted ideas at some point.

2017-12-03 17:59:32 +0000 UTCI would love to see that video, so it voted for it, but i'm not gonna tell you to go out of your comfort zone if you don't want to or produce something you don't think fits the channel as a whole.

2017-12-03 14:59:20 +0000 UTCThis is gonna be a close one...

2017-12-03 10:30:06 +0000 UTCHonestly, Shaun, I'm probably going to love anything you create, so just do whatever strikes your fancy!

2017-12-03 04:01:22 +0000 UTCSeriously that sounds absolutely fascinating. I cant think of a better video for someone of your composure to make.

2017-12-03 03:45:17 +0000 UTCThat sounds really compelling. Go for it Shaun!
2017-12-03 02:21:50 +0000 UTCDo your thing, man.
2017-12-03 01:34:06 +0000 UTCConsider that the thing that we may need tbe most, and lack, is empathy. This topic may well help some of us gain a perspective for the alt-right.
2017-12-03 01:09:26 +0000 UTCSounds fantastico

2017-12-03 00:22:35 +0000 UTCFotFM is up there one of my favorite of your videos so would love to see this one. I think that would be a good way to sort of see how you can get from point A angry 4channer to point B person who understands how the world is shaped by propaganda

2017-12-02 22:23:25 +0000 UTCI'm already a fan of your work, so of course I want to know more about your opinions and experiences.
2017-12-02 21:43:56 +0000 UTCI think it would be a really engaging video :). Voted!

2017-12-02 21:38:29 +0000 UTCYou should do it. Like you said in the first Frogmen video, people are growing disillusioned by Trump and the alt-right and may be looking for ways out. It's very useful to have stories about how some SJWs were close to their places of importance without coming to the same conclussions.

2017-12-02 21:37:59 +0000 UTCI'd like to see it and I think most people who like you enough to give you money probably would, but that might not reflect your entire audience.
2017-12-02 21:37:20 +0000 UTCNot only interesting, but timely (I think). There's a fair bit of discussion about how best to engage alt-rightish people (and indeed, if it's worth engaging them at all). Personally, I have to believe there's a way to reach a lot of these people, and if not "convert" them, at least engender enough understanding that they're not overtly antagonistic. (Yeah, there's another argument there about how that's not good enough, etc. but personally, I see any progress as a positive sign). So... yeah. I think this would be both illuminating and worthwhile.
2017-12-02 21:30:58 +0000 UTCAs a lonely nerd who spends too much time online, I often wonder why I didn't fall into that trap myself. I'm sure you'll have some good insights into this issue. I say make it.
2017-12-02 21:29:43 +0000 UTCThere are so many trappings that an otherwise good, decent human being can fall into and start spewing hateful stuff and it would be good to see how that situation can happen. This video could be a good way to "debunk" mistakes that are easy to make when first coming into contact with social justice. I have a lot of opinions I'd like to formulate about this subject but don't have the means to, and hopefully you'll touch on some of them unknowingly. Really looking forward to this video :)
2017-12-02 21:24:44 +0000 UTCAre you kidding? That sounds amazing. We don’t want an echo chamber; if someone as intellectual and insightful can be susceptible to becoming an alt right, then don’t we all share the same risk?
2017-12-02 21:13:12 +0000 UTCI think it'd be a useful video that'd help with the difficult process of dragging people out of some troublesome beliefs.

2017-12-02 21:10:57 +0000 UTCI think it'd be cool. I've had the same experience, and it might be good for some people on the fence to see as well.

2017-12-02 21:09:21 +0000 UTCIts certainly going to be interesting coming from you but generally trying to establish how people avoid falling into the trap of the Far Right or getting out of the movement is a great story. It's like how former Neo-Nazis try to help others recover from it, sorta. Anyway, make it dude. You have my blessing (Waves hands in a pope-y way)

2017-12-02 21:04:57 +0000 UTCInstead of a follow up to the frog men video, can we have a follow up to the frog *riddle* video? I need to know!
2017-12-02 21:04:41 +0000 UTCI think it's an interesting idea. You might get a bit more mileage out of it if you are able to extrapolate your background into the general mess we're all in. What right-wing "Rational Skeptic" rhetoric and my own personal cynicism have in common is the view that people are naturally drawn to reactionary views. Stories about men heading in the other direction would be such a relief.

2017-12-02 21:03:28 +0000 UTCIt sounds neat, but only do it if it feels comfortable to do so.

2017-12-02 21:02:00 +0000 UTCI'd defo watch that! I think I could have potentially fallen for the Alt-Right myself had it not been for my love of Hip Hop. (Can't really buy into racism so well if you're white and a lot of your heroes are black lol)...
