I'm with Tom here. Knowing you, you'll most likely do good research on the charity you choose, so i am very happy to contribute.

I trust you to pick a charity I will wholeheartedly want to support - so this news honestly makes me want to give more, if only for that one video. You may consider running a limited time charity drive on one of the crowdfunding sources as a supplement to that - just so that non-patrons and patrons like myself who would happily give more to a charity, can!

I consider charity a problematic concept, because in some cases it serves only to hide problems that should be solved outright. If a charity feeds and provides temporary shelter for the homeless, or provides health care for those that lack insurance, it takes off the pressure to fix the problem permanently. Plus you degrade people who have to rely on charity to the level of beggars, instead of providing it to them as their right. Rather than giving to charity, I'd like to make charity unnecessary. However that's not realistic, and I myself am supporting a couple of organisations that may count as charities (MSF, Amnesty etc.) That said: I don't think I have a say in how you spend your money, just because part of it comes from me. The way I see it, I owe it to you, and you're free to do with your money whatever you damn well please.

I see it as no different from me using my money on charity. My boss doesn't need to know and neither do your patrons! I guess I only speak for myself, but I want to help you have an income, not dictate how you spend it.

absolutely! it's not necessary at all, especially if you need to make ends meet, YOU might be a more charitable cause than some charity that may spend it on someone's airfare to go to the netherlands for a conference or something. as long as you do your homework (as you always seem to do, which is why i'm your patron in the first place) and are confident that it's not going to go to waste, i absolutely trust your discretion.
