Hey Shaun! I just got back from the UK a few months ago (including Liverpool which I just found out you were from one of your videos). I want to know how you feel the intellectual and political climate there differs from the US, as you do comment on US politics frequently.

Ahh well you see, *proceeds to lewdness* But seriously, I had the good fortune to meet Olly, Harry, Badmouse and Angie speaks at their recent talk at Imperial College London. One of the big topics discussed was the idea of amplification of smaller voices and making Left-Tube / whatever online space this is, accessible to new voices. Also discussed was how youtube as a capitalistic platform + the barriers to getting started (time, effort, harassment, low return on emotional investment, anxiety) create issues for new voices. But in addition to these problems is the idea that people might have something to say, but simply do not want to go full-in making videos, perhaps looking to contribute input to other people’s vids or just simply connecting people (like we saw with the #TransCrowdFund hashtag). People already do collabs but I wonder if there is a way to broaden it out. My question is: what is the future potential (or potential barrier) to this idea of connectivity and not necessarily participation? The idea of leveraging this space as a network, to connect people, ideas and take action into the real world (again, like the DK stream)? Apologies if this is vague and rambly, I’m not sure if I’m articulating the question well enough.

Hello there Shaun, I hope I don't come off as too insane here but, I was hoping to get your thoughts on Compulsory Service in a country (Finland as an example, where the resident may choose between military or civil service). Do you feel this sort of mandatory service is an overall benefit or detriment to the societies (and their population) that employ it? I've been thinking, after watching your Transphobia videos and others like it, about how a lot of current transphobic arguments seem to be the largely discredited homophobic arguments I remember hearing a lot growing up during the 90's, but repurposed to alarm cis women and lesbians, rather than straight men. Y'know, 'we can't allow gay men to invade the traditional male spaces locker room showers/military barracks because they'll try to fuck all the unsuspecting men there,' or 'older gay men are initiating sexually confused teens into a sinful lifestyle they don't want and will find it hard to come back from' - they're not being subtle about it. My questions is: why do you think that a group of people who have to know these arguments are bullshit from their own experience of having them used against them, are now allowing themselves to be persuaded by them? Sorry for the longish post.
