Thank you! Academia... it depends on a bunch of factors. The job market kind of sucks for teaching jobs, particularly if you are unwilling to pick up and move across the country to chase a job. I never landed a full-time position. On the other hand, I managed to do ok working part-time in multiple places. I started in 2001 and continue to this day. Of course, as a part-timer i have to work twice as much as full timers to even come close to the same money (these days I'm teaching 8 courses per semester), but at least my work is all focused on teaching and zero bureaucratic bullshit (committees, etc.) To be perfectly honest, the only places where I landed jobs were those where I knew someone, so networking is probably more important than anything else. It's imperative to find time-saving strategies to reduce the amount of grading, which otherwise will swallow up all your free time. Anything else you'd like to know?

Hey Daniele! Happy to be on patreon after being a long time listener! So, I’m currently doing a PhD in history and I teach as an adjunct at the local college in my city. I know you do a lot of teaching and have had much to say in the past about academia. Not sure if this would make sense as a whole episode or maybe a possible zoom for members, but I was wondering if you could speak more on academia and any advice for those who decided to get on the school train even if the tracks are on fire everywhere around them 😅 . Can’t wait either way love History on Fire!!

oh man, we must be in telepathic synch. I have a plan for an episode entitled "Us vs. Them" that i've been taking notes on for a year :)

Very excited to be part of the patreon crew, really interested in all the different directions you are taking with your content, totally on board for it all. Would be really interested to hear more on italian history, so many great rabbit holes that would be on your home turf. Also keen to hear more stories on martial artists and the philosophy of the martial spirit. Loved your stories on boxers, would love to hear more. One topic that jumped out that would be fascinating would be how we dehumanise people to create an "us vs them". Could also tie in a chat with daryl cooper to compare your views on it as he covers this ground a fair bit on martyrmade. Your idea on covering osho sounds fascinating, he pretty much is the basis of a lot of cults that popped up in recent times.
