Buffy the Vampire Slayer 2x11 "Ted" Full Reaction

I've always liked this episode. I guess, in part, because of John Ritter. There are two small pieces of foreshadowing as to what Ted is in the episode. His line: "I'm not wired that way," and Ted's co-worker saying, "No one can beat the machine." Awesome touches, IMO. You're reaction just makes the episode even better to watch.

I don't know if you recognized the actor who played Ted. His name was John Ritter, and he was always talked about as a really great person. In the behind the scenes of this episode, they talked about how he came in, and even though he knew this was a one-off character, he gave it his all and went all in with whatever the writers wanted to do. I watched him in Three's Company and what I think is a great, fun movie called Stay Tuned. He was also in the Problem Child movies and the original IT made for tv special. He was also in the tv show 8 Simple Rules, but I never watched that one. He passed away in 2003. He has a son named Jason Ritter, and he is also an actor. One of the shows he's been in that I absolutely loved is called Joan of Arcadia that aired from 2003-2005. He was also in Kevin (Probably) Saves the World which I was enjoying but it got cancelled in 2018 after only 16 episodes. Anyway, I know this is more of a one-off episode, but it is one that I always enjoy because of John Ritter. :) It's always fun to watch reactors on this one because of how each person reacts differently to Buffy "killing" a guy before that reveal towards the end of the episode.

Ted's weirdo 50s patriarch lines are all so good. I always crack up at this line delivery: Buffy: "what are you?" Ted: "I'm a salesman!" I'm generally not thrilled when shows undo big events like murder and avoid the consequences, but even though Ted turned out to be a robot, we at least know a lot more about Buffy and a little more about Joyce and Xander (that even though he was enthralled with Ted and dismissive of Buffy, he automatically assumed Buffy was in the right when she killed him). And imo even rewatching this episode knowing he's a robot doesn't detract from the scariness of the abuse and Buffy killing him.
