I like how an important character establishing fact about Angel made in the first 2 episodes is: Angel's a babe, blondes love him, but for a very old man he has the social skills of a newborn baby. Which like, same. Buffy is relatable in an aspirational be-your-best-self kind of way, Angel is relatable in a much more self-deprecating everyday turmoil kind of way.

Can’t wait to see your reaction over the seasons! There was the metaphor comparing between Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel. I believe the metaphor was that Buffy was going through high school and college and learning to be an adult, where Angel was being a young adult finding your way in the “real world.”
