It’s interesting Season 8 feels..... different The first three episodes of Season 8 have a slightly different vibe. We don't have the "classic" adventures; it's more about plot progression and character development. Rick seems very different. Ep 1. Rick is powerless; he could have fixed the whole thing with the matrix and Morty and Summer's minds, but he just did nothing and observed Ep 2 was family-based. I think it was the first series where we didn't see Morty (I could be wrong) ; it was all about the development of Rick's feelings with Beth (and vice versa) Episode 3 shows us who rick is in the dark, when he doesn't have a family to hold him accountable, and when he doesn't have easy access to portal travel to render everything meaningless. Farmer rick is just a guy trying to make his way through life. We don't know what goal he was working towards, because it was interrupted before we could see it. Gumbo rick was one of the poor and disenfranchised Ricks that wanted to be rich, and was willing to do whatever it took to get there.
