How to Radicalize a Normie: Step Two (rough)

Alright, here's Step Two! I've made some tweaks to the script since recording this, but they were minor enough that I didn't feel like re-recording before doing this rough. Current draft is just a bit more streamlined. You'll see a few lines that don't match text and may think a couple spots are repetitive - you'll see these addressed in the final edit!

Also IMExp "pantomiming strength" works. Wingers actually _believe_ Lefties are soft, weak and apologetic. If you can get away with it coming out hot and ferocious can shut them down. They really, truly believe they have a monopoly on classic stereotypically masculine virtues. Prove them wrong and you shake them up.

Yeah I'm in an online combat clan (EC, PS2, GR, etc) and we get "infiltrators" pretty steadily. We've developed a solid immune system due to certain pushy a-holes refusing to be "tolerant" of guys with 1488 tags but it was touch and go for a while about the need to be "civil" and "open minded" to >literal< "Fascist Neopagans." Something we've learned that might help you: get aggressive. Call these chicken-fuckers out. They're more like the T-shirt Nazi and The Crying Nazi than they'll ever want to admit. Also having an international membership helps. We've got Brits and Swedes and Finns and while we're not 100% Lefty Rainbowsexual Love Coalition having a decent selection of overseas voices can help shut down crap like Right-Winger "immigrant invasion" talking points.

Holy shit I can't wait for the full release of this video. It's very relevant to a number of discussions I've been having lately.

Masterfully explained, esp the bit about YouTubers courting edginess starting a cycle of spiraling rightward whether they actually believe those politics or not. And the Wedge this killed me - spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.

So the point of "politics is something the community disagrees on" first sounded to be off to me (because there are many disagreements in all fandoms which are not considered political), but then I viewed it as "anything the community disagrees on is liable to become the politics of said community" which, to me, neatly explains some of the niche faultlines that surface when a community with a Nazi problem spills into everyone's timelines. Like say, Sad/Rabid puppies.

I just finished reading Tony McAller's (former Canadian white nationalist) THE CURE FOR HATE for review. Quote you might find helpful "I didn't lose [my humanity]. I traded it for acceptance until there was nothing left."

1. no time, video's already too long 2. sorry friend, but PJW's gonna be here somewhere, might as well be small and in a corner 3. no time, video's already too long

It is a conclusion I came to after a LOT of research.

This is great Ian, a couple of thoughts: 1. The "Pause for Definition" part is only fine for "Clickbait" because that's a term in such common usage that it doesn't need more than summation, whereas I'd never heard of the other two and adding, say, 30 seconds each to elaborate on what they are would be superior to making the viewer work for them, esp since they're both important ways in which the chuds operate 2. That horrible clip of horrible Paul Joseph Watson turns me off my food, is there any way you could have a less horrible clip of him or just remove him entirely? How about Lauren Southern instead? She's gross but doesn't make me want to stop watching the video. Looking at his face makes me wanna hurl, no one man should be so hideous 3. 3 mins onwards is SUCH - A - GREAT - SUMMATION of how this works, I really wish it was expanded upon. It's concise but brief. Your videos usually get a bit deeper into how this works, and this is to your credit but this segment plays like the audience is already aware and I'd like more details/description. What you're doing is educating viewers the specifics of how this all works, and in doing so inoculating them from falling for such antics, so the clearer points like this are made the better. (Your next segment, for example, is perfect at this. It's oh so good.)

Wedge Antilles from the old Star Wars films. Bad pun but I lol'd.

This is shaping up really well, but the section from 2:15 re happiness and identity seems a bit reach-y. It may ring true or BE true for many people, but it seems to hinge on some ad hoc psychoanalysis that might not apply to alt-righters outside the Jordan Peterson crowd.

Coupcumber

Just wanna say I love the wedge graphic.

I don't know much beyond "talk to your mods."

Ian Danskin

that 'idk' sound :D good segment, I've seen this overreaction "they're saying we're all nazis", but luckily, the community involved isn't overrun by nazis yet. I'm always interested to know, how do we deal with this? It's one thing to recognize it, but another to fix or prevent it.

Agami

I'm just going to say that the face (I don't know who that character is) and generic lack of contrast on the wedge looks kinda weird and distracting, and seems like a departure from otherwise uniform visual style. I think it'd look better with strong outlines and just a stark, dark gray surface (?) Nice work and sadly true points made, as always.

SadeN.moe

Yeah, much as I'd like to get something online sooner, I think one long video is gonna be the way it goes.

Ian Danskin

Trust me, any hitches in the audio I have heard a dozen or more times in the editing process. All audio will be re-recorded before the final edit.

Ian Danskin

There's a cut-off bit of dialogue about 29 seconds in -- "or infiltrates a community Gabe is already"

Really enjoying this new series. I know some people I'm going to show them to once they're released! Also, FWIW, I think these segments are short enough that they should be one longer video.

Zefira Shannon

We'll get there!

Ian: I’m making this one more optimistic! Me: *watches next part* *breaks down in tears*
