Freelance Out Into Nothin'

I am still mired in this freelance gig that has, at this point, taken far more time than the pay is worth. I am happy with the work I'm producing and the pace has picked up a lot, so I hope it will be done this month. Life just keeps getting in the way.

The stimulant shortage has so far cost me my meds twice - which, it turns out, does not just mean a return to unmedicated scatterbraininess but withdrawal, which involves anxiety, depression, panic attacks, massive headaches, fatigue, and each ADHD symptom operating at 150% of normal. I have, at this point, a number of techniques for managing withdrawal (caffeine and THC, mostly), which made the second round less miserable than the first, and I've learned techniques for finding the one pharmacy with a bottle of your stuff still in stock. I've also started doing med-skip days so I can have a stockpile when it's time to refill - hoping to have 4 extra pills when I start calling pharmacies so I can go every other day for a full week before running out.

Consider these tips if you are also impacted by the shortage.

Thanks to these disruptions, work has been inconsistent on all fronts. I am currently back in the swing of things and producing at a good clip, and just hoping I get a good quantity of work finished before the next life even throws me off course. And I look forward to showing you the vid when it's public!

Whettin' the Appetites

Just to give you a little somethin' to justify your patronage, I'll be sending you the first 9 pages of this script I'm writing on neo-noir. I've been working on it whenever I can spare it the attention. I'm very happy with the prose, though there may be some structural changes as I iron out what goes where and when I should be using case studies vs. talking about broad trends (I might be erring too much toward the latter right now). This isn't everything - there are several paragraphs of the next section written but I didn't wanna send you half-completed thoughts.

I have no idea how this video will do or how many people will be interested in it, but it's been in my head long enough that there's nought to do but write it down. And I figure it'll take advantage of Nebula's strengths - doing a video about movies on a platform without copyright bots, and maybe lending itself to a sponsor like Mubi, since I don't like the idea of sponsoring The Alt-Right Playbook but don't have anything else on deck.

I will send that out as soon as I publish this.

Thanks again for sticking around, everyone. My consistency is all over the place lately. I am not at the level of Hbomberguy and Contrapoints where I can go months and months between videos and not suffer repercussions. February's releases were well-received, but didn't bring in much patronage, and the bump I got from last year's ARP has settled. I'm focusing on this freelance video to clear it off the table so I can launch back into my work here. But thank you, everyone, for staying in the lean seasons. You keep me afloat.
