the film recommendation post has been up for several days, submissions have wound down, and it's clear that "most liked suggestion" is a poor metric for picking films because the likes are heavily weighted towards people who posted early. so! we're doing a poll after all.

well... polls. we got a total of 116 film recs, of which I had already seen 35. that left us with 81. Patreon caps polls at 25, so I made 6 cuts (apologies) and we'll be running 3 polls to pick our 3 movies. you can cast multiple votes, so feel free to spread the love around, and I will pick the top 3 films from across all 3 polls. don't worry if two of your favs are on the same list, treat it like a single poll that's just cut into 3 pieces.

now: two concerns I have are recency bias and recognition bias. every time I'd run a poll on Twitter about games or movies, it was functionally a notoriety contest. "which of these titles have you heard the most?" so! I've gone and done something unnecessary:

here is a playlist of the trailers for all 75 films. you do not have to watch these trailers, I'm just gonna gently recommend you pop over, play it on random, or maybe just look through it for titles that look interesting. see if there's anything that looks interesting that you wanna vote for. again, not a requirement, just an opportunity to take the recs from the community seriously so it's not just the biggest names rising to the top.
