Phoenix under the Umbrella (Umbrella Academy AU) Chapter 37: Kidnapped

[Third Person's PoV]

As Nathan and Five entered Meritech Prosthetics, the lights were all out. Nathan turned toward Five and smirked, "You know, old man, you're a bad influence on us younger generations."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Five asked.

"It's literally your first day back, and I'm already an accessory to murder—no, genocide—and now we're trespassing illegally."

"We're doing it to save the world from an apocalypse. I'd say our actions are more than justifiable. And I doubt your hands are clean."

"I mean, I've committed mass genocide, destroyed planets to oblivion, so you're not wrong," Nathan shrugged.

"You what?" Five asked, looking at Nathan in surprise.

Nathan shrugged again. "It's part of being the host of the Phoenix. I need to get rid of things that cause more harm than good to the universe."

"Our family is seriously messed up," Five said, shaking his head as he sat down at the receptionist's desk. He turned on the monitor and computer, which illuminated their figures in the dark room. Pulling out the eyeball, he began typing out the serial number on the back of the glass eye.

As he pressed enter and began searching, Five rubbed his hands together. "And the one responsible for the apocalypse is…"

Five froze, while Nathan's amused expression grew. He leaned over Five's shoulder and read, "Invalid serial number… So he's the one causing the apocalypse! We must stop him immediately! This villain can't get away with it."

Five leaned forward, covering his face in his hands before running his fingers through his hair in frustration. "It didn't occur to me that since we're in the past, he might not have lost his eye yet," Five groaned, ignoring Nathan's teasing.

"Stand up," Nathan instructed. Five sighed and did as he was told. "Give me the phone I just gave you."

Once Nathan had the phone, he began typing on the computer, windows with green text and lines appearing on the screen. He entered the serial number and Five's phone number, then hit enter and closed the tab.

"Since when can you hack?" Five asked, eyeing Nathan suspiciously.

"Since I stole the knowledge of a man who turned his entire race into cyborgs so he could control them—one of the planets I had to destroy. I told you, I've learned things from different worlds," Nathan smirked.

"I see… and what did you do?"

"I set it so that when that serial number appears in their system, it will send the information directly to your phone."

Nathan spun in the chair, crossing his arms and joining his fingers. "Am I the best brother or what?"

"You're getting there," Five smirked before scoffing. "Now that's sorted, let's get out of here."

Five grabbed Nathan, and they teleported outside.

"So, what now? Do we wait for the message or keep searching for clues?" Nathan asked.

"Even if we search, we wouldn't know where to start. Plus, it's already dark. We won't find much, so I say we call it a day," Five sighed.

Five extended his hand. Nathan looked at him in confusion and held his hand and began walking. Five yanked his hand away. "No, you idiot! Power me up so I can teleport us home."

"Oh…"

With Nathan powering him up, Five teleported them back home.

...

"RELEASE MY BROTHER! HE DID NOTHING WRONG!" Klaus cried, throwing himself dramatically onto the floor.

"My brother is innocent! Innocent, I tell you! I will stay here causing a scene until you release him!" Klaus wailed, hugging a policeman's leg.

"Let go of me, you psycho!" the policeman yelled, trying to shake Klaus off.

"Never! Not until you release my brother! He's an innocent soul—he wouldn't hurt a fly."

Klaus paused. "Okay, that was a lie. He's very violent. But he's still my brother!" he resumed his crying and pleading.

"If you keep causing a scene, I'll have to arrest you!" the policeman threatened.

Klaus froze, slowly standing up and dusting off his hands. "Diego! I did everything I could. You're on your own!"

He marched off before sprinting away. "I can't go back to that hellhole! Forgive me, brother!"

Once far enough, Klaus had his hands on his hips and was catching his breath. "He was my ride home… Now what am I going to do? I could always fly—"

"Excuse me…"

Klaus turned toward the voice and saw two people: a chubby white man and a black woman with a bob cut.

"Are you related to Five?" Cha-Cha asked, showing Klaus a picture of an old man.

"Well, I am related to someone with that name," Klaus said, rubbing his chin. "But my Five doesn't look like that. He's small and travel-sized—"

Before Klaus could react, Cha-Cha pistol-whipped him. His eyes rolled back as Hazel caught him, throwing him into the back seat of their car.

"What did he mean by 'small and travel-sized'?" Hazel asked, buckling Klaus in and heading to the driver's seat.

"You heard that woman; there was a kid teleporting everywhere. And you know how complicated time travel is without the briefcase."

"Wait… so that child was Five?"

Cha-Cha whacked Hazel on the back of the head. "Are you just getting that now?"

"Ow!" Hazel rubbed his head, looking irritated. "Yeah, I thought we were following two powered individuals, hoping they'd lead us to Five. Since the one getting arrested said he was their brother, we followed him, planning to interrogate him. Then we met this one, who also said he was their brother. So we took the easier target."

"You're such a dumbass. They're both related to Five. This one will tell us where Five is or maybe give us a weakness to exploit."

"Do you think the one in the back has powers too?" Hazel asked.

"Most definitely. You heard about the other one moving things with his mind. It's safe to assume anyone related to him has powers."

"Shouldn't we drug him, then? We could go to a pharmacy and get something strong so he won't use his powers against us when he wakes up."

"Why do you always do that?" Cha-Cha asked, looking towards Hazel in exasperation.

"Do what?"

"You have dumb moments, then follow them up with something smart. You were a dumbass, now you're a smartass. Drive us to the pharmacy."

Hazel sighed and drove them to the pharmacy to get the supplies ready.

“Since it was your smart idea, you go get it” Cha-Cha said, “I'll keep an eye on him in case he wakes up”

After a while Hazel retreated, shaking a paper bag and tossing it towards Cha-Cha’s back.

She immediately opened it as Hazel went back to driving and injected Klaus with a needle, “There, that should do that trick. Now take us to the motel”

Asura

Lmao this is not ending well, Mc always has a small projection on them correct? To keep an eye and always be there for them in their special moments. Mc is going to appear and either whoop their ass or get sealed in a timeline is my guess.
