Spider-Man: Black and Blue (AU) Chapter 34: Vs. The Vulture (2)

[Third Person PoV]

Damon was swinging from building to building, following the faint but glowing hot trail that sliced through the air like a comet’s afterglow. His body moved with fluid precision, every twist and leap a blur of strength and momentum. He landed on the edge of a tall rooftop, his boots skidding slightly across the gravel before he crouched, coiling his muscles tight like a spring. Then—with one powerful motion—he launched himself higher into the skyline, soaring across the empty night, his webline snapping forward with a metallic thwip!

The city lights below blurred into streaks of gold and white. Damon rounded a sharp corner, his spider-sense pulsing faintly in the back of his mind as he dove down between two glass towers. He fired two webs at once, one to each side, and allowed gravity to pull him down until the lines went taut—his descent halting just a few feet above the street. The tension snapped back, slingshotting him forward like a bullet as he rocketed toward his target.

Inside his mask, his comm crackled. “Oscorp,” Richard finally said after a long stretch of silence.

“What?” Damon asked, half-shouting over the rushing wind as it tore past his ears.

“The Vulture—whatever that thing is—he’s heading toward Oscorp,” Richard replied, his tone heavy with certainty.

Damon swung onto another building and perched momentarily on a streetlight to catch his breath. “How do you know that?” he asked, brow furrowing behind the mask.

“I’ve been marking your turns on the city map as you moved,” Richard explained. “Every swing, every change in direction—it’s all leading straight toward Oscorp. And don’t forget, there was that Oscorp truck he tried to rob earlier. Looks like our old friend Electro isn’t the only one nursing a grudge against the big corporations.”

“Good detective work, Sherlock,” Damon said, launching himself forward again. “Now do me a favor—guide me. Give me the fastest route over.”

Richard chuckled faintly. “It was but elementary, my dear Watson…” he said in his best British accent before his tone shifted to focus. “Alright, hang a left in two blocks. Then another hard swing north toward the river.”

Damon followed the directions, darting through the canyons of steel and glass. His heart pounded in rhythm with the web-shooters, his breaths quick but steady. The Oscorp tower loomed in the distance like a glass spear rising into the clouds, its logo faintly illuminated in green.

After nearly crossing the entire city, Damon perched on the head of a weather-worn gargoyle, his silhouette blending with the shadows. From this vantage point, he could see the Vulture—Adrian Toomes—circling the tower like a predator before slamming through the top-floor window in a burst of glass and chaos.

Inside, Norman Osborn shot up from his chair, startled. “Adrian?!” he exclaimed, eyes wide. “What are you—”

“Zip it!” Adrian barked, his voice rough and full of venom. “The only thing I want to hear from you is your pathetic scream when I drop you to your death.” His eyes were wild, his face smeared with blood and soot from his earlier fight with Spider-Man.

“If this is about me letting you go, then I’m sorry!” Norman stammered, backing away. “I had no other choice—”

“Let me go?” Adrian let out a low, bitter laugh. “You didn’t let me go, Osborn. You used me! You stole everything from me! But don’t worry—I’ll return the favor.” His mechanical wings flared open with a metallic screech. “I’m going to take something precious from you now. Your life!”

With a roar of his engines, Adrian shot forward, slashing at Norman with his talons. Sparks flew as the claws scraped against the metal supports of the room. He circled the office like a hawk before swooping down, grabbing Norman by the shoulders and dragging him toward the shattered window.

“Adrian, stop! Don’t do this!” Norman shouted, his voice breaking. “Think about what you’re doing! If you follow through with this, you’ll go to prison—”

“Prison?!” Adrian howled in laughter. “They’ll never catch me! I’m the master of the skies!”

With a violent jerk, he let Norman go. The CEO screamed as he tumbled out of the building, the air tearing the sound from his lungs.

But below, Damon was already sprinting along the Oscorp wall, his spider-sense blazing like fire in his veins. He could feel every second stretching thinner. He leapt into the air, eyes locked on the falling figure.

“And an interception from the Cowboys’ midfield!” Damon yelled like a sports commentator as he tackled Norman midair.

The two tumbled together, spinning wildly. “Damn, princess!” Damon grunted, firing a web into the distance. “Wouldn’t kill you to skip dessert once in a while!”

The web caught just in time, snapping them both forward in a wild arc. They swung between lanes of honking traffic, wind whipping past them, Norman clinging for dear life as Damon gritted his teeth and pulled them upward—back into the glow of the city skyline.

“NO! NO! NO! NO!” Adrian exclaimed, throwing a tantrum midair, “Curse you Spider-Man! I'll get you for getting in the way of my revenge!” He shouted as he dove down after Damon.

Spider-Man had swung up and was tossing Norman shoulder to shoulder to swing around.

“Put me down this instant!!” Norman shouted feeling completely humiliated.

“Jeez, need i remind you just what happened the last time someone did that?” Damon exclaimed, and was grunting as Norman was fighting his hold, “You are just the ugliest damsel in distress I had the misfortune of rescuing”

Damon landed roughly on top of a rooftop and set Norman down. “Alright now be honest with me? Are you carrying around any bread crumbs or bird seeds because Big Bird seems out to get you?”

“No, Adrian is an ex-employee—” Norman began but was interrupted by Spider-Man as he shouted.

“Duck and I'm not talking about the bird kind!” He pushed Norman down as Adrian flew through where they stood before flying back up.

As they stood back up Damon looked up and said, “I see, so we're dealing with a clingy ex that doesn't like being told no. Talk about a red flag”

“Let me deal with him, I'm a great wingman, trust me, hehe get it?” Damon snickered before taking off his cowboy hat and putting it on Norman, “May it bring comfort in your time of need,”

Damon jumped into the air and shot twin webs through the air and latched onto Adrian's wings before spinning him around and redirecting him into another rooftop, smashing him against a ventilation system, causing it to dent and become deformed.

“Adrian! Come on bro! I heard about your performance review! If you want I can help you fill out your profile in Indeed!! Maybe a career change is exactly what you need”

Norman watched Spider-Man web away towards the Vulture, his eyebrows twitching as he snatched the hat from the top of his head, “How annoying, I can see why they would want someone like him gone” Norman whispered as he brushed his waves down, ‘I don't know who to exactly vote for here… honestly the best outcome is for the both of them to take each other out.’
