Charlie and Sasha met on day one when they were moving into the dorms, they lived on the same floor. Charlie's mom heard Sasha speaking in Russian on the phone as he was hauling his 3 emotional support cats into his room (he got them registered for the sole purpose of being able to bring them to school with him), freaked out and immediately started a conversation, then insisted he become friends with her child

Charlie found it very embarrassing but Sasha was just as excited to be able to speak with Charlie's mom in his native tongue. They eventually hit it off as good friends that gradually evolved into a long term relationship, then shit went downhill from there

 AJ, Jackie, and V have definitely had to sit in on Charlie's depressed drunk rants about how much he resents his catboy ex for having a better relationship with his mom than he does

They broke up for a lot of fukin reasons but mommy issues were a big one. That and Charlie didn't wanna be addicted to nicotine anymore but Sasha's total lack of intent to quit his chainsmoking habit made it pretty hard to do so

Due to Charlie's quirk of never referring to anyone by name, they didn't know for a long while who Sasha actually was, he was just this vague concept of an asshole toxic ex that was in Charlie's life

V of course definitely follows and stalks Sasha's social media because she just likes to thirst after internet e-thots like that. She was about 90% sure he was Charlie's ex due to the extensive digging she'd done throughout his profiles, but never asked Charlie to confirm it out of respect

Jackie is actually friends with Sasha and they like to feed the stray cats around campus together, which is how they met. It's a pretty surface level friendship where they'll run into each other during their rounds and obsess over how cute the kitties are and that's about it. Jackie didn't know about his history with Charlie until a bit later after an awkward run-in

Since AJ doesn't attend their uni she'd never run into Sasha before, but from what Charlie's told her and all the times she'd had to comfort him during his emotional breakdowns she definitely did not have a positive opinion on him and would probably try to fight him if they met. In reality they ended up getting along quite well since their personalities are compatible as a fellow disaster bi, and Sasha is about 50% less assholeish and self obsessed than he was when he was dating Charlie two years ago (but he's still kind of a vain shitlord).

Sasha comes back into the lore after Charlie transitions, and they are on slightly better terms. Apologies were issued and hatchets were eventually buried, and Sasha tried his best to make it aware that he's still around to support Charlie when he needs it (an offer which Charlie took veeeeery cautiously). It was moreso because Sasha wanted to see Charlie's mom happy since they were close, and made it his life's mission to somehow have that happen without her invalidating Charlie's chosen gender identity

Sasha is still good friends with Charlie's mom and is aware about her obsession with having a daughter, as well as Charlie's desperate want of approval from his mother. He felt like he needed to reach out to Charlie to serve as a sort of mediator between the two. There's a bit of interesting conflict that I have planned, but Sasha eventually serves through all of his redemption arc with his attempts to repair the relationship between Charlie and his mom
