The Last Kingdom Season 5 Episode 7 REACTION!! (full watch-a-long)

Emily Cox was brilliant, too. Her acting never felt like acting. Very authentic.

Thoughtful Boomer

I'm glad he didn't have to do it in the end. He would never forgiven himself.

Yeah it seems like most people don’t understand how deep Uhtred’s connection to Brida really was. It was deeper than a first love. They were both born Saxon and taken as slave when they were very young to be raised by Ragnar Sr. They grew up together before become a couple. Miscarried there baby then went there separate way. But because of that deep bond nothing could break it for Uhtred. Even when brida went after his kids. His love for her was so incredible deep. Poor Uhtred looses the people he loves the most.

Lady Aelswith was one character I cannot believe I am saying this for she was wicked when she was Queen.. I.did not like at the beginning…but she has grown on me , since Alfred died ..She is now a Dowager Queen…down to earth..she is quite savage with that 🗡️ dagger hidden on her boot..

First we loose athelflaed, then osferth, then sygtrigger, then brida... and this season isn't even over. It's a tough run so far. Just episode after episode... I would include vibeka in the first episode but I honestly didn't care too much for her.

I was so glad to see others have the same reaction and emotions as I did with this one. This is the only thing I ever recall watching where I grew to really hate the character, wishing for her death, and then all of a sudden have my eyes opened even more and feel the history of them, see the potential for change, and have my heart ripped out when she dies. I've never been on that much of a roller coaster with anything else I've ever seen in reference to a character like this. And it's because we've been there with them along the years and experiences. Reshowing us those moments, reminding us, and seeing that Brida is actually wanting to come back and find happiness... it was so sad to see. Just when Uhtred has broken through to her she's killed. I'm glad Uhtred didn't do it in the end. Even though I never agreed with Brida's excuses and motives and actions throughout a majority of the show, she was still a special character and person to Uhtred because of their shared past. And the fact that she wasn't always bad. Somewhere along the line she lost something inside of herself and she just kept letting it worsen. Until we got to the point that we just wanted Uhtred to kill her. Until of course, we realized we didn't. =/

Such an emotional rollercoaster scene at the end. I like how we saw the bitter, vengeful woman disappear and we once again saw a glimpse of Uhtred’s first love who he humped amongst the trees ❤️, the cheeky/sassy girl from season 1 & 2. And love how she called Ragnar as she was entering Valhalla. Superb scene and props to the actors.

Stiorra looked like she was always ready to join Sigtrygrr. I'm not surprise she won't kneel to Edward. She was truly ready to die, if need be. She did the next best thing by killing Brida. As much as I came to despise Brida (and it took a lot to get there, but yah, the line was drawn with her attack on Uhtred's kids), I understood Uhtred's love for her, and his hope that they could love each other again (if only as friends). But, her death was best for everyone. And, for her sake - she can be with Vibeke, and most of all Ragnar. RIP Brida.

oooh good comparison! I totally agree GOT whishes that scene had the impact Uthred and Brida had in TLK.

This episode is so beautifully done I love it so much. And they do such a good job of getting us to change our feelings about characters. Brida was complicated she wasn't a typical villain for Uthred which makes their story so much more interesting. Also while TLK is not the most historically accurate show I really appreciate the little nods to history like Siggtryggrs ship burial mound and the Danes breaking his sword before burying him with it. Archaeologist have found a full ship burial and a lot of broken/bent swords in viking graves.

Battlebug

Ps In thinking about other narratives, made me think of Jon Snow…and what they WANTED us to feel as Jon struggled to kill Dany. If there is ever going to be a scene depicting that — this with Uhtred/Brida is the bar. That GOT scene did not even enter the chat.

😭😭😤Cheeks stained tears. And went through handful of tissues. You said everything. Gutted. No I can’t think of any other dynamic in long-form storytelling like Uhtred’s and Bridas. —— Alexander is BRILLIANT actor. He deserved award for that.

Ashley

At the beginning Brida was such a free spirit ..funny ..fiery… then became this very angry and bitter woman..in the end she was just vengeful and evil ..after losing her daughter that was the end of her story line, sad ending.R.I.P🌹🌹 I’m just as shocked as Aethelheim 😂Uhtreds cousin does not look like a Lord or even a warrior.. a little weasel with an army.

Great reaction as usual! This whole season has been great to watch you guys experience! <3

The end of this episode gets me every time, I legit cry. RIP Brida, hopefully she found peace.

Kayla Salem

I had chills when I realised that they decided to finish their feud where the entire story began, but once the flashbacks starting coming in mid-fight i couldn’t hold the tears back. The emotions shown by Uhtred and Brida just added to that so much more, honestly bravo to Alexander and Emily they killed it. Also the pure shock on my face when that arrow came in omg🥲

Rizzy

The scene at the end was so emotional. Uhtred feeling so many emotions. swinging his sword with so much anger and sadness. Then you see Brida almost defeated, unable to block any more swings, prepared to die. They managed to make me feel bad for her in that moment, and after what she did to young Uhtred, didn't think I would feel that way. And when you think there is a chance for Brida to find some peace, Stiorra kills her. Also Stiorra losing everything because of Brida, knowing what she did, knowing her father couldn't kill her. Her anger is also understandable, but as Uhtred has said, this is the path Brida has taken as well, and he saw what it did to her. Stiorra also needs to find her peace.
