It’s a new day in Konoha. The reconstruction of the village is going smoothly. There are multiple spots of grand destruction but two of the greatest ones—from the meteor and the Bijudama—afflict the region outside Konoha. But there is much to do. The craters remain to be filled and replanted with trees, the Hyuga Clan is suffering for their clan elder’s actions as a concrete follow-up to their internal politics is yet to be revealed, and caught spies are questioned. There is also a boon to Konoha’s research division and other clans, who can employ the [Heavenly Blessing-Earthly Restriction] to create valuable ‘objects’ and assets—a blessing to all Shinobi Clans.
Similarly, it’s a new day for Kai, too!
‘Much to do, much to do, much to do~!’ He chants internally, his feet skidding across an underground research lab, not within the Senju Clan’s compound.
In Hiruzen’s eyes, Kai left for the mission with his team yesterday.
[B-Rank Quest: Escorting Sharks
Summary: Lead a path of a Merchant Caravan known for its aggressive business practices from Konoha to the Capital of Land of Fire—Honou City.

Failure: Konoha Loses the Businesses of Many Caravans.]
[War Effort Quest: Payday
Summary: Meet with the Fire Daimyo in Honou City to discuss the war funds according to the Hokage’s needs and financial leniency.
Reward: 25 SP; A New Title
Failure: Third Hoakge’s Disappointment; Fire Daimyo’s Distrust in your political abilities.]
His other four clones left for the other four Shinobi Villages to route out the cum-man’s spies and make them his own. His clones will also use the [Forbidden Individual Curse Tag (1/100)] to train the skill on enemy forces.
Of course, he cannot stroll in the village as his clone. The world only knows his clone to be a Shadow Clone—which disappears with a single attack. So, he stays inside Orochimaru’s lab. And at night? He cannot keep his fiancees waiting for him—he has two of them, after all! And they need his sweet-sweet loving.
In different rooms, unfortunately.
Close as they might be, Mikoto and Kushina share their reservations to share a single room at once. And Kai cannot pressure them into such things—one of the rules he made while thinking about creating a harem. Since he gets a Harem, the girls also need to have their reasonable wishes fulfilled.
‘Though, I wonder how Jiraiya would write a Harem in his books.’ Kai muses as he steps into a cavernous room barely illuminated with distant lanterns expelling a pale yellow glow. ‘I’ve read a few novels in this world about harem. But the feudalistic system of the Elemental Continent makes most stories about the Lords punishing their concubines for cucking them after they go on about using them once and not looking in their direction again.’
Stuff like that happens in many civilian Noble Clans of the country. Not that it matters to Kai. He will continue trying his best and earn the rewards he can reap in different aspects of his life—for instance, the wide set of a stacked ass staring back at him through the stretching confines of a white lab coat.
“If you stare that much, I’ll start believing you need a spanking. Not in a vain attempt to return the favor. But it’s a good way to teach growing boys manners.”
“Ha-ha,” Kai retrieves his gaze with a flat chuckle. “Maybe I’ll rock a naked labcoat and then ask why you’re fixating on my Dragon? That’s what you wanted to create with me, right?”
He walks ahead, proudly adjusting the collars of his labcoat as Orochimaru glances back, exhaling, “And here I wondered you were actually sporting said outfit. You’ve ruined my day.”
Kai rolls his eyes, walking into the spacious lab underneath Konoha’s drain system. Kai upgraded the locations of the seals using the seals from [Indra’s Tritya Panth] to block off the Dojutsu like Byakugan and Sharingan or the see-through Jutsu variant Kai had developed.
Orochimaru had been surprised when the seal warded off senses enhanced by Senjutsu, masking the region as a regular chunk of the earth underneath the drainage system.
There is a reason why Kai left no measures unchecked once he decided to settle in Orochimaru’s humble abode for work.
The Spy—Leader of the Barrier Team.
Kai had no idea he was a spy until he left to search Dodai’s mind. Out of all the swoops of Senjutsu-Enhanced senses and other measures, a spy of relatively ‘low’ stature managed to slip his grasp.
It drove the point deep within Kai—He’s not an all-knowing Rikudo, and shit will continue to happen!
Kai did not mean to become complacent. If anything, he is starting to feel eager to slip inside other villages and learn new things! But Kai is incapable of controlling everything. He must do his best to protect his interests. Orochimaru’s interests align with his—and must be protected!
The damp underground cave is not free from its disadvantages. Well, for one, it’s humid. There is only so much the seals can provide, and fresh air isn’t one of them. Or maybe it is, and Kai simply hasn’t discovered the function program. And their bodies don’t work as a more powerful body equals no sweat—Far from it. A more powerful body at their level means they eat more, sustain more, digest more, and in the worst condition, they fucking sweat more.
He observes the unchanged stretch of paperwork strewn over the floor as he sits on Orochimaru’s desk while she sits.
“Is Tsunade still drinking herself to sleep?” Orochimaru inquires. Tsunade is reasonably glum after the invasion. She was the major force in keeping things operational in the Hospital and saw the worst for a long time. If it were Kai, even he would desire a break.
But it wouldn’t do if he let Orochimaru deride Tsunade.
“It balances, right? You took a break during the raid, and she gets to take her time off now.”
Orochimaru looks up from the sheet of paper she’d been working on, sweating and moderately irritated at his comment. “Then it would be better if she let up Raikage’s son and Kakuzu.”
“You’ll just make a mess out of your schedule. I’m staying with you to complete the Jutsu that’s been long pending. If you want to work on Kakuzu’s Forbidden Jutsu or work the Raikage’s kid, I can work on my own, too.”
“That wouldn’t do,” Orochimaru smirks. She extends her hand to let her index nail glide over his left thigh to his knee before narrowing her eyes. “If Tsunade wants to be wasteful, it’s her loss. Did she allow me to use it?”
Kai smiles, retrieving a plastic pouch containing a strip of bark-like flesh from his pocket.
“Lord First’s cells ready to be used for the [Chimera Cursed Seal].”
Orochimaru stares at the packet with uninhibited desires before closing her eyes and muttering, “It is unfortunate that Mokuton was great under Hashirama Senju’s hand instead of the other way around. But I suppose reaching their level of mastery in Jutsu is a relishing challenge of its own.”
“For you, maybe,” Kai huffs. He’s already worked on the regular and Senjutsu variations of Mokuton, so he needs another set of Jutsu to work on.
Orochimaru tosses him an unimpressed look as she questions, “You believe you are stronger than the First Hokage?”
“Who knows?” Kai shrugs. “I’m stronger than Tsunade in her Sage Mode. As for her Grandfather, I suppose all of it depends on Chakra Reserves and nature.”
“Nature?”
“Yeah,” Kai blinks. “I hear he is benevolent. Benevolent Shinobi can sometimes hesitate, not that I think Hashirama Senju ever will. He lived the bloodiest era of wars. I have a healthy chance of winning if he holds back—in the beginning—to get his motors starting and warming up.”
Orochimaru nods with an amused expression as she extends her hand and waits for Kai to drop the plastic packet on her hand.
“I suppose the seal brings a bout of Pain,” Orochimaru picks up a nearby folder to fan herself, and her almost scorching gaze meets Kai’s curious pitch-black orbs. “Interested in planting the seal on me as you planted on your dear Kouhai’s ninken?”
“Sure,” Kai agrees readily, seemingly oblivious to her words but not so much to her damp cleavage pressed together under her buttoned and smaller lab coat. “It’ll be quicker this way. And we can get started on making the concept more practical sooner.”
Orochimaru blinks.
‘Did he get it or not?’ She wonders. There is no doubt he perceives physical hints. But Kai’s internal clock rarely strikes true in other leads unless he initiates things, or so she’s learned from a Learned Bespectacled Scholar with a bribe of a few Genjutsu tips and rare flasks of sake. Nothing is as good as Somarasa. Orochimaru has tasted it. But the value of those jars of Sake is in their reputation.
Much to Orochimaru’s annoyance, even as his gaze lingers heavily on the translucent, damp bust of her top underneath her lab coat once she removes the grimy piece of clothing—Kai remains more interested in planting the seal!
Orochimaru would have been annoyed if she didn’t have the patience of a ‘mother.’
“Oh! And once the seal completes, let me see the sample of the wood you brought from Takigakure. Mokuton can replicate—” He looks back only to freeze in his tracks as he eyes the woman.
‘But,’ he cries in his heart. ‘What about research?’
And then the pragmatic half of his Minato Fanboy side corrupts his last embers of purity.
‘Fuck the research. Have I ever denied any stroke of fortune? She created the Dragon. She shares some responsibility, right?’
---
Hiruzen stretches his arms in satisfaction, and his elbows and shoulders creak and pop in satisfaction as he smiles in contentment.
Yes, he feels happy.
Why?
It’s time to reap the sown rewards!
Firstly, he managed to get the channel of communication between the traitor and the Third Raikage, promptly securing the village from any further visible infiltration as he asks Tsunade and Orochimaru to run the surveillance at equal intervals to remove the threat of the invisible force once and for all!
And there is the fact one of his students has Mokuton!
The notion is thrilling to consider! Tsunade has always been a powerhouse with ungodly physical power and medical knowledge to deliver swift and precise blows, not to mention her unique Lightning-release Jutsu that affects the target’s nervous system—but with Mokuton? She’ll be a beast. Or rather, she already is! Hiruzen isn’t a fool. He knows her Sage Mode, and Mokuton may have assisted her in capturing A’s son, Kakuzu, and killing Utsu!
She is a bonafide Elite-Jonin, only lacking the political drive to become a Hokage.
Yes, Hokage is usually the strongest Shinobi, but Hiruzen can notice the shift in the air.
It’s no longer about being the most powerful but a wise leader with deep political connections.
Kai checks one such box—politically connected.
Whether Kai planned this or not, his dream of a Harem led him to become connected with major parties in the Village. Hiruzen is honestly surprised Kai doesn’t have some young flame in the Hyuga Clan. But then again, the Clan never would allow such notions until now.
As for his wisdom? This mission should test Kai appropriately.
It can be considered the gap from Sakumo’s loss is filled.
But is that all?
No!
There are the likes of Yata and Fugaku Uchiha. Hiruzen didn’t know about Fugaku’s Mangekyo and Yata’s other abilities aside from the fabled Amaterasu.
‘A Field of Genjutsu, or something similar. Like mines waiting to blow!’
It’s a terrifying Jutsu, but Yata hasn’t acknowledged anything about his Jutsu aside from the Tsukuyomi.
‘And his Tsukuyomi’s Weapon is similar to THAT man’s weapon.’ Hiruzen shakes his head. Fearing Yata’s capabilities wouldn’t do when the man has provided Konoha a great service by giving up a great seal free of cost.
But the knowing parties know the truth.
‘Kai should have noticed something strange about it, too. I’m glad he ignored it,’ Hiruzen smiles fondly, more than impressed by Kai—not knowing the truth.
‘We also need to scout Fugaku’s ability, but the young man hasn’t acquired his Mangekyo for long if the reports about his Tsukuyomi are true.”
Finally, the War Reparations and the Hyuga Clan.
There is a tacit understanding between the Old Kage and the Daimyo. Konoha won this raid, injuring Kumo’s foundations by taking out elites of Dodai’s kind! The Fire Daimyo will pressure the other lands to hand over reparations and finally allow smooth communication between Konoha and Suna to continue their alliance against the rest of the three powers. Hiruzen did not state this matter to Kai explicitly because it is the Daimyo’s responsibility to initiate, and the Old Kage thinks it would be a great experience for the young Elite.
And then there is the Hyuga Clan.
Hiruzen does not feel the least bit guilty to put the clan in a spot by spreading the rumors to the upper floors of the evacuation center at the time to lower Hyuga’s reputation. Mukai’s betrayal is already a shocking event. Hiruzen had been glad the spotlight was on the Hyuga Clan instead of the administration since Mukai was an Anbu! But the seal on the hidden elite will prevent him from leaking the Village’s secrets.
Hiruzen has already sent a team to locate Mukai, but there is a sense of caution amongst others in the higher-up.
Without a doubt—there is a breach in the Anbu ranks, and Hiruzen is starting to believe it’s not Danzo’s handiwork. Not directly, at least!
But the gains are more than enough to resolve every issue for now!
The reconstruction of the Hyuga Clan’s politics!
All Hyuga members will still have the [Heavenly Blessing-Earthly Restriction], but they can finally enter the Academy without any restrictions and enter Konoha’s main force!
But Konoha has underlying issues, too.
‘First, I need a way to deal with the Uchiha Clan’s desire to stop policing around and enter the main force to stabilize their reputation against the Hyuga Clan. Second, there is the issue of the Clan Civilians within Konoha’s borders. We won’t be able to support them for long, and once the war erupts, feeding all these mouths will become harder. Something needs to be done about the mysterious party so that the Clans can resume their businesses outside Konoha.’
Before he could think further, a familiar accompanies the knock on his office door.
“Sensei? I’m back. We need to talk.”
‘Jiraiya?’ Hiruzen glimpses, knowing his student was whisked away by his other masters of Mount Myoboku during the funeral.
“Come in,” Hiruzen permits as the Toad Sage walks in with a wry chuckle, making himself comfortable by sitting on the couch near the Office’s corner.
“Just be direct,” Hiruzen sighs seeing Jiraiya’s expression, and massages his temples for the headache that he is sure to endure once Jiraiya reveals whatever’s bothering him.
“So, the Great Sage woke up,” Jiraiya works his jaws. “And there is a new prophecy.”
Hiruzen utters a groan.
Great! A Headache.
“Some great time the Great Sage chose to wake up. Kai is on his mission. But did you talk about his willingness to learn the Sage Mode?”
Jiraiya slumps on the couch, exhaling loudly.
“He called himself the Dragon Sage, right?” Jiraiya questions instead of answering directly.
“Yes,” Hiruzen narrows his eyes. “Why? Did the Elders of Myoboku take offense in his epithet?”
“It’s not that,” Jiraiya sighs. “The new Prophecy. There is no longer any Child of Prophecy. I got to say I feel relieved. I had this pressure that a wrong choice from my side would turn Minato into some destructive Shinobi with daddy issues.”
“Get to the point.”
Hiruzen directs sternly.
“It’s not the Child of Prophecy that leads this world any longer. It’s a Dragon, still coiling, honing his claws, preparing to meet foes of great stature.”
Hiruzen grows silent before whispering, “The previous prophecy is suddenly obsolete. What makes you sure this one will work?”
“Because the Elder Sage says this is the second time this happened,” Jiraiya’s shoulder slumps. “He says only his master has defied the ends of his prophecy. Before you ask, I don’t know who the Elder Sage’s master is. He says he forgot, but it wasn’t like his usual replies. I think he still remembers his teacher.”
Hiruzen frowns, questioning, “And the Prophecy?”
Jiraiya closes his eyes, whispering the contents calmly.
