The Pacific Episode 10 REACTION!! (full watch-a-long)

Thank you both for watching this difficult, but amazing show. The actress who played Vera looks incredibly similar to my paternal grandmother. Even her mannerisms (in the short time we spend with her) are the same. It’s also of note that my grandfather wrote her frequent letters throughout his time in the pacific theater. I still have them and they really paint a picture of his vision of the war. My grandfather made a career in the army and had lots of support when he returned home. Also I agree with a comment above that y’all should consider Peaky Blinders. It’s a terrific show!!!! Thank you again for watching this series!

You both should also check out “Generation Kill”, another great thought provoking but yet overlooked HBO series that delves into the 1st Marine Reconnaissance during the beginning of the 2003 War in Iraq. Also perhaps the film “We Were Soldiers” starring Mel Gibson, Sam Elliot and Barry Pepper. Also did you know that the young actor who played Eugene Sledge is the kid who starred in Jurassic Park?

Raymond Francis

This mini series was amazing, anyone cutting onions? Now that y'all have finished this one, you should watch Peaky Blinders!!

I wept thru this whole episode; from the moment we saw our guys all cleaned up and looking great again, to Snafu walking away without saying good-bye, Eugene seeing his parents again, then having nightmares & his parents concerned look, and his dad's nurturing nature, and finally the end when we get to know what happened to the Marine's we got to know & love. I'm glad I got to watch it again with you guys. It was a journey, for sure.

There is another documentary you might like -- sort of like the Band of Brothers documentary "We Stand Alone Together" -- this documentary is called "He has seen War" and is on YouTube. It is about the all the men coming home after World War II and how they all adjusted and got back to a regular life in America. It has interviews with some of the Easy Company Guys and some of the real guys from the Pacific like Sid Phillips and family etc.. It is a very good documentary.
