2023-04-17 10:58:52 +0000 UTCI waited to see this until night before move. Tears streaming most of the episode. I echo everything Steven said. Blown away. Writing, direction. No hiccup. Flawless. The beautiful shot of rain falling might have been corny in another show, but here it was finally catching a break. Divine. Destiny. My mvp of crew goes to Athelstan. Was so emotional when he bypassed his “father” and ran in searching for Uhtred. Worried yelling, “Don’t fight alone!” at his side as a SON. How amazing is it that now Edward’s mom, whom we loathed, has now become part of the crew. She came through. And now wants to live with Uhtred! I mean wow! Also loved that finally Uhtred found peace in being both Saxon and Dane. All the stars and accolades. Rare to see a show never miss. 🤌🏼 many lines felt like foreshadowing. Especially Athelstan beating Uhtred at the end. Kid is growing into a leader. And Uhtred saying his destiny is to die at bebbanburg. I’m like nooooooooo! now on to the movie, where I’m sure to weep 🥹😤

The exception is Season 5 as their are 13 books so they basically compressed books 9-11 into that last season, leaving the movie to cover Books 12-13. Having said that Edward is not featured as much in the books, but more often referenced as doing things elsewhere becasue Uhtred is operating in Aethelflaed's Mercia

Had the same problem with Peaky Blinders. I finally made it to season 3. Black Sails I probably my #1 show have seen it a ridiculous amount of times. I’m starting The Expanse again soon. I really liked TLK from the start but I knew it was going to be a favorite after Halig died and Finan became Uhtred’s brother.

Was hesitant to allow TLK and Uhtred into the good graces i held Travis Fimmel's performance as Ragnar and the show's overall tonality(at least shortly into season 5). Detested in comparison of TLK's pacing and even soundtrack at one point but happily consider those former grievances. The emergence of his trauma-bonded crew was the inflection point in which gave way to the show's unique pace. Black Sails is #1 re-bingeable show and The Expanse right behind it. How many episodes or seasons of Vikings did you make it through?

Now it’s in my top 5 with Black Sails and The Expanse. Y’all have no idea how many times I’ve recommended those 3 shows over the last several years. You guys are the only ones that have watched all 3. And I did get my Serpent-Breath. I’ll be hanging it right next to Longclaw. ⚔️

2023-02-22 11:47:36 +0000 UTCConflict with Alfred and then Edward was the main story catalyst of the character Uhtred to push the idea of a single man torn by Saxon blood and dane beliefs. But also explains why Brida was so turbulent as a character, it was brilliant. Ultimately, we all knew what belief prevailed, which is why it works so well, and we easily feel sorry for Uhtred. I just really appreciated the whole thing. Great Show!

It’s still shocking how Netflix didn’t even put the trailer for this final season on their own YouTube page or promote it when it was beating Rings of Power’s viewership without half the budget. Better ending than Vikings or GoT by a mile and really glad you acknowledged that. Alexander Dreymon and David Dawson should’ve been nominated for their acting. Fun fact, Uhtred had a real broken hand while filming the finale. Total badass. Gisela died giving birth to Osbert but when the new show runners came in for season 4, they grew lazy and were determined not to mention the third kid as if viewers simply forgot an important plot point and only brought it back for season 5. Even so, this is without a doubt a great ending. The recap is so great but they should’ve included Clapa and Osferth!!! Rest in peace to the dozens of named characters that didn’t make it to see Uhtred’s final destiny. Destiny is all! All remember the arselings and Saxon Distraction! If the movie follows the final book at all… it will be insane. Thanks for covering this underrated show!

But then I realized that it was done to make him look small - tiny - compared to Uhtred's greatness. So well done. That ending, when Uhtred was remembering all the bad times, and the good times. So good & so sad. All he lost. That rain coming down when it did, and Uhtred weeping with joy, made me lose it, like I've never lost it before. He was finally home. One of my most favorite shows, that I will be watching over & over again. I haven't even thought about the movie, because if I watch it, I'm going to have to do it alone. None of my family or friend have watched this show, no matter how much I've talked it up. So, we'll see. Thank you guys for doing this, and getting me involved in it. I started after you guys started, but I caught up, and surpassed you guys real quick. lol Now it's time to get caught up with SOA. I'm only one episode behind, and it still hasn't grabbed me yet, but I trust your members, so I'm sticking with it. For now. lol

In fact, I became a patron of your Patreon, precisely to see your reactions to TLK, and I do not regret it :) I agree that it is very underrated and that I hope more people watch it, because it is a masterpiece. And I also agree, I think that TLK has been better than "Vikings", despite having a lower budget, it managed to have a solid story during the five seasons, with a great ending. Maybe you can both try to get an interview with him and some other characters. There are a few Youtubers that secured interviews (e.g The Screen Chronicles) with the cast to promote the show. Just something you can look into if interested.

Edward is brought down a few pegs (he was a dick!). Love the montage while Eivor is singing. Alfred was an amazing king and I feel if it wasn’t was for his religious fundamentalism, he and Uhtred could have had a better relationship. Uhtred is my favourite character out of all shows. He has such honour throughout despite all the bullshit he gets. Alexander Dreymon is an incredible actor.

When it originally ended I never heard any talk of the movie. I’m so excited to see more but I’m scared to death that they are gonna have uhtred die 😔 Good catch Steven on last ep where u caught that he had another kid. I think most people forgot about the third child myself included. Nikki, I was in a panic too when the fire started but thank goodness we had a great ending unlike GOT 🙄 You guys rock! I'm usually not one for montages but the ending montage looking back on all the people and moments that made Uthred who he is was so beautiful and really well done. It gets me every time no matter how many times I've seen this episode. I might be in the minority but I kinda love Aelswith this season. The battle would not have been won had she not gone to fetch Stiorra to come help the Saxons. And her neurotic personality is a fun bit of levity in what is a pretty heavy season. I'm reading the books and I haven't got to the part where Uthred has kids but I'm hoping they explain the third kid more in the books because that was the one part of the show I'm still confused about.
