Title: Scammer’s Hide

“Shut up!”

A girl’s shout echo in the busy streets of the Sea Dragon City as denizens part way for the strange couple: a green-haired, twin-tailed girl as high as 160 centimeters dressed in an elaborate green frock with various accents of green, including a green bow-tie around her collar as her honeyed pupils stare at her much taller and larger partner dressed more frivolously—in an open, flower-printed red shirt, white shorts, and strange black glasses over his face as he walks with his hands behind his head, causing the unbuttoned shirt to part further and reveal his sculpted body to the masses.

“I’m just saying,” Ja Sun snickers as he cheerily nods at others along the way, “You beast girls eye me like a piece of meat. I felt similar gazes from Snow and Bi Ji ever since my return. So, shouldn’t I be compensated if you girls treat me like easy meat?”

“Sister Snow will never degrade herself to your level!” Bing Bing hisses.

“I don’t know,” Ja Sun sniffs proudly, acting out the part of a fickle but prideful mistress that can collar tough men around her, “She looked intrigued in following me around for the day.”

“I said no!” The Ice Scorpion asserts herself or tries to while Ja Sun laughs louder. “Besides, degrading to my level means becoming a master of various elements and boasting power on top of this world! Wouldn’t you want to degrade yourself?”

His question surprises Bing Bing as her pupils stare down the ‘filthy’ human body. It’s not like she will ever find human features attractive!

‘But he has that scorpion tail,’ Bing Bing thins her lips. Before she can press her motives and reveal her ‘reluctant’ interest, she hears him speak—“Ah, what am I saying? Of course, you wouldn’t! It’s not like a young human specimen like me will ever catch the eyes of proper Spirit Beasts like the Great Jade Ice Scorpion. I should just stick to heathens like Xiao Bei and Wu, who became humans, and… hmm, Xiao Bai. The Shark Girl can be categorized as a mermaid, no? Oh, and Lan Ruo!”

Bing Bing’s expression darkens with each successive person Ja Sun names. And to her great annoyance, all these women boast great ‘filthy’ features that only serve to attract his illicit gaze, unlike her pure self—Bing Bing is shorter than most and somewhat less curvaceous.

Less, not flat! Just because she covers herself completely doesn’t mean she lacks charm! Not that she wants to charm a human male!

“Right?” Ja Sun thumps Bing Bing’s shoulder, who scowls at his words.

“Kill yourself!” Bing Bing responds with appropriate aggression.

“Didn’t I inevitably try that by going against a bevy of Divine,” Ja Sun grins, “I failed, poor me. Why don’t you give it a shot?”

“Why?” She snorts. “You’ll just end up liking me! You’re a pervert who likes pain!”

“Hey,” Ja Sun frowns sternly, “I’m a pervert who likes it rough only with my wives! I’ll tell you Erlong and others quite enjoy the punishment I deliver!”

The woman scrunches her nostrils in disgust as Ja Sun muses with quite the shit-eating smirk, “Maybe Snow will enjoy it, too? I wouldn’t boast about it before, but I have experience now. Snow is just the kind of—”

“I will stab my tail in your ass if you continue any further!” Bing Bing threatens, but Ja Sun pays no heed to it. “When?” he demands. “It’s not like you will ever get / to touch me. Oh, or was that your plan?”

The scorpion bristles as she glares at Ja Sun, frustration visible on her face as she grinds her teeth together.

“I had no such plans!” she snaps before picking her pace before she starts ranting after a while.

“Hmph, have some shame! I only accompanied you because I felt cooped inside those spatial artifacts! And as I said, Sister Snow will never find your vile paws attractive! I would sacrifice myself before I let Sister Snow feel, er, let you lay your paws on her! Hey! I’m talking to you! Are you listening?!”

She looks sideways only to find the familiar and massive frame nowhere to be seen. Instead, she looks to her side and finds a group of dark-skinned girls staring at her as they eat their snacks from their hands. Their heights are not much different compared to Bing Bing as the Jade Scorpion meets their gaze before stating firmly, “I don’t like humans, but you will do well to find a sensible and submissive man, not an infuriating one!”

She snorts and turns on her heels before trying to locate Ja Sun in the city!

‘How dare he leave me alone?!’ She clenches her small fists, and a dangerous aura develops around her as even the nearby Spirit Masters feel a chill run down their spine!

‘Does he really think I’m worse than Sister Snow? Not that she will ever enjoy such notions! She is one of the purest beings in existence!’

But she knows well why she jumped into the ‘mouth’ of the beast instead of letting Snow explore the island with Ja Sun or his half since his other half is busy developing an Array of a magnitude no less than the Divine Grace Array.

Ja Sun finds himself surrounded by several Spirit Masters. Well, to be honest, he blinked away from Bing Bing the second he neared the establishment aimed to host Spirit Masters, knowing that he could achieve his goals easily in Bing Bing’s and her cute scowl’s absence—To Scam!

The sight of their hopeful expression and the truth of knowing how much more faith is important than meager spirit energy brings great joy to Ja Sun as he simultaneously wonders—There should be a law of scamming or theft, right? How much should I scam to become a master of it?

“That’s right!” It was easy to make the group less fearful of him as his frivolous outfit was tailored just to do that. Ja Sun drinks a cocktail from the coconut in his hand as he looks at the group of spirit masters. “The only way to stay on this Island as a Spirit Master is by completing one of Poseidon’s trials, right? How many of your family members failed and died trying—or worse—exiled?”

Ja Sun proclaims proudly as the aura of control—much worse than Daoliu’s comfort and Saixi’s dignity—spreads, gripping the listener’s emotions. “Yes, you all benefited from the surge of spirit energy that allowed you to make quick breakthroughs! But was the threat of death and exile necessary? Poseidon prepared you as if you were supposed to win a great battle—but he later abandoned you!”

Ja Sun will milk the event of Poseidon’s abandonment till his last breath! Why won’t he?

“You,” he points at a female Spirit Master, “are a Rank 33 Spirit Elder, right? Won’t you agree that you could achieve your current strength even without Poseidon’s trial and the threat of leaving the island?”

The truth is the custom of entering one of the seven pillars of Poseidon to activate a trial is not mandatory—it’s just that—a social tradition, something similar to the rite of passage. But such traditions burden many members of society, making them feel it to be a mandatory phase of their lives. And Ja Sun’s words sound more persuasive than usual for one reason—the spectators are not seeing Ja Sun in his casual attire.

Yes, he is wearing a loose and open shirt, completing his vacation outfit with a cocktail in a coconut, but he’d be damned if he thinks that becoming ‘friends’ with the Spirit Masters will earn him their faith.

Faith is worship and love in its purest sense to the point that others must put the host on a divine pedestal. It’s one of the reasons why he didn’t expect Bo Saixi to accomplish any prayer for him after she saw him for the man he is and the reason why his family cannot ‘worship’ him despite their love and faith in him—except Violet, maybe.

A man cannot earn the divine’s right of Faith. So, what others perceived wasn’t a Ja Sun in his vacation fit but a somber Ja Sun attired in a glamorous silver-emerald robe sitting cross-legged on a stool with divine fruit in his hand—a rather good demonstration of his Law of Control and simple Illusion initiated by the Nightmare’s Fantasy in his mental world.

The woman under Ja Sun’s gaze falls to her knees, whispering, “I could, Beast God!”

“So, what if I were to tell you that the trials were meaningless?” Ja Sun smiles as he activates the Divine Grace Array on the Island. With the seven nodes carved into the Seven Pillars gone, Ja Sun holds the only authority over the array as he connects a stream of pure spirit energy stored in the reservoirs of the Island to the woman. Her expression morphs into shock as her Spirit Energy climbs to Rank 40 at once!

Ja Sun can achieve such a scene even without the Array. Spirit Energy is the byproduct of the Soul Origin, and devouring the Soul Origin itself can increase the cultivation of beasts. Of course, Ja Sun won’t reveal this use of the Divine Grace Array to the likes of the Rabbit mother-daughter duo, who may try to skip their cultivation for quick growth and the urge to fuck him—ugh, how he loves the attention he gets from the beastkins!

He can even use the Divine Grace Array to form something special.

A golden seed appears in his hand as he looks at everyone present, “Do you know what this is?”

“A- a God-Bestowed Spirit Ring!” A clamor spreads throughout the establishment while Ja Sun smiles, emphasizing a lie, “Only a God or their priest can create this blessing. Work hard. Just because I abolished the trials does not mean the path of cultivation will come easy! You are the first line of defense for your people on the Island!”

Translation: “Only a scammer like me can use the energy from countless stored Spirit Beasts inside the array space of the Island to create scam you! But I will not monetize faith because even a stupid pig will realize it won’t be faith any long but greed instead! So listen to this bullshit about protecting your people under the view of this super spirit ring that adapts to the user and gives them useful abilities alone! Great, am I right?”

Ja Sun does nothing more as he gently helps the kneeling woman up before patting everyone on their shoulders as he leaves, “Speak to the Seven Guardians or my priest, Bo Saixi, to contact me in times of extreme importance. I will never give up on mortals and leave you for lurch!”

He feels it again. While the faith of the Spirit Masters was nowhere near as intense as the ordinary public, it’s better than nothing at all. They gulp as the Divine Light flashes over Ja Sun, and he disappears as if he didn’t exist in this realm!

“Did you miss me?” A snicker stops the swiveling head of an annoyed green-haired girl as she snaps at the frivolously dressed youth. “Where were you?!”

“Didn’t you know? God is always with you,” Ja Sun grins, “You should have looked deep into your heart. I’m sure you will find me there doing questionable things~!”

She snorts, “I want to leave. I’m no longer interested in spending time in the city.”

“Okay? Here, let me warp you away,” Ja Sun extends his hand when Bing Bing steps back with another angry snarl, “Stop doing that!”

“Okay?” Ja Sun cocks his head with a smirk, “I won’t send you. Sheesh, you’re not making a lot of sense here.”

The girl groans, annoyed out of her wits!

“Why won’t you just say it?!” She scorns the God beyond mortals as he shrugs, “Whatever do you mean, dear? Do you want me to say—I forgive you? Because God is forgiving and kind!”

Ja Sun always had a way of infuriating enemies, maybe except Xunji—which he will rectify the next time they meet with his words! But his talent for annoying his allies and family is no worse!

“Ugh,” Bing Bing scoffs as she turns on her heels, leaving him alone.

She stops after walking a short distance before she looks back and glares, “Follow me already!”

Ja Sun’s smile widens as he nods kindly at the group of nearby children watching him strangely, “Find yourselves a partner as feisty as her. They could kill you, but your life will be more interesting than most.”
