Title: The Gorgon

Slackjawed, Ja Sun stares through the cocoon of light. He didn’t get to observe the heavenly curtain around Violet for long, but it would also be a lie he didn’t get any inspiration. ‘Heaven’ as an existence and entity is decidedly above the Gods—some shit about a mountain beyond a mountain. While Ja Sun can appreciate the theoretically near-infinite cultivation progression one way or another, he isn’t bored enough to chase such a fate. The only reason he decided to gamble with his life during his tribulation is—that gambling equals fun, and he seriously needs to step into the Divine Stage with appropriate, relevant power instead of starting as a Divine Rookie.

Nobody’s got time for that!

His inspiration didn’t provide him with anything new. It reinforced one of the concepts he unintentionally ignored about the Baby-Making Array, or as Ja Yin calls it—the Destiny Defiance Array.

---

“What do you mean?” Ja Yin frowns, snarling impatiently, “We are about to be done, and you want to change things? Did you get cold feet?” Since Ja Yin has some of Ja Sun’s illicit nature, she knows her lover doesn’t get cold feet, but she is also unruly and known for verbal jabs.

“While I don’t appreciate how this classless beast converses with you,” Lan Ruo shoots Ja Yin a mocking glance. “She has a point, Beast God. Doing things otherwise—”

“Man!” Ja Sun snorts, glaring at Lan Ruo and Ja Yin. “You think I ain’t eager to pump you full?” His crude speech is far from the elegant, sage-like disposition he shows others when he travels the seven cities with Bi Ji or Xiao Wu. He notes their stunned expressions with a sneer, especially Lan Ruo’s, who’s likely looking forward to it as much as Ja Yin despite acting reserved. Hey! If the whale thinks she can get a leg up on others by having his kid—Godspeed to her. Ja Sun is a simple man. He’s as satisfied with Feng Liu’s lips around him as he is with Bing Bing’s unreasonably tight, cold-ish pussy flexing around him—sucking him for all he’s worth.

“I’m saying our earlier speculation about tribulation was correct!” He grins. Inspiration doesn’t strike to create something from nothing. An illiterate wouldn’t just learn everything about Arrays because of a snap of inspiration. Inspiration is a state of mind where disconnected clues connect! “We all wondered if the act of human and Spirit Beasts having children is defying Heaven. Most of the defensive arrays aim to mitigate most of the damage. But I’m saying we won’t need it, and it’s a waste of time now.”

He snaps his fingers. “Like when I summoned otherworldly Monsters. I didn’t endure tribulation for the act because the ability stems from my Martial Soul, which falls under the curtain of ‘OUR’ Heaven. But when the Black Behemoth endured one final punishment before he left our world using my portal, which is not my Spirit Ring’s intended use. Chances are we’ll see the same result since the fuel—your affinity with Destiny—is not a defiance.”

Ja Sun smirks. He had an inkling it would be the case but wanted to prepare for the worst. But now he is sure. And since he is confident, Ja Sun frankly does not see the reason to waste more time by setting defenses when they can finalize the array and get down to ‘real’ business.

“Are you sure?” Ja Yin hesitates.

Ja Sun nods. “Why won’t I be?” At the risk of sounding arrogant, Ja Sun doesn’t see the need for others to worry when he is the one assuring them. Sure, he relates to one’s need to take matters into their hands for confidence’s sake, but he also admits others should know some facts about him—he is unreasonably confident in most diabolical shits!

His grin adopts a wicked curve as his stare drifts over to the two women. “Let’s get working. And by that, I mean you two will toil the menial~! And I will chill here.”

Ja Sun snickers as he reclines on his chair, exhaling in contentment.

---

While one-half of his oversees the renewed construction of the array, his other half awaits inside the Time Chamber with bated breath. Don’t ask him how he can calibrate the time difference with two halves operating in different time dilations—he just can. Ja Sun is a freak like that. But he stares at Violet’s ‘blanket’ of energy hard, still at work to understand how one’s Soul Origin reacts to an evolution. Just because Heaven’s presence disappeared does not mean he has nothing else to learn! Ja Sun finds and creates his opportunities most of the time, the thought of which makes him long for his trait again.

He hasn’t felt testy about it ever since meeting his son. And the girls around him are more than ‘Kind.’ But Ja Sun admits that his plan to achieve a GRAND Ascension took a significant chunk out of his time from his trait—Quest Maker. But he can’t do much about it. His Trait is limited to creating one quest at a time.

Maybe once my trait evolves.’ He muses. His previous master knew a way to evolve one’s Traits. Of course, he never taught Ja Sun about it, but the Sage can understand a few things from the hints and clues around him.

‘Killing me, let him complete his evolution process. I was the last straw, maybe because I killed his daughter. His Trait granted him permanent boosts based on his vengeance, so his love for his daughter was only outdone by his need for power. Huh, he is a bit like Xunji that way.’ Ja Sun chuckles once he realizes the similarities. ‘What could be the ‘achievement’ needed to evolve my trait?’

He already has a few guesses. And of them, one feels like a sure shot.

‘To achieve a quest beyond S-rank!’

‘Maybe the current mission—’

His thoughts retract from his bolder imaginations as he and the rest feel the Spirit Energy in Violet’s chamber undulate. The fluctuation stems from the cocoon of energy on Violet’s bed as others hear Saixi whisper, “This is it.”

Unlike the shift from a Spirit Beast to a human, which might take years, Violet’s evolution numbered days. The cocoon of energy starts to shift and vibrate under everyone’s gazes as slender, deep-golden scaled arm tears out. When others expect Violet to experience the benefits of her breakthrough peacefully, a loud hissing noise echoes from the egg.

*Crack*

*Crack*

Two tufts of deep-purple hair joined into strangely dark, featureless snakes tear out from different sides before more and more tufts of hair snakes crack out from the ball of energy until they stop! All the featureless snakes turn to look at Ja Sun as he tilts his head in amusement.

Bi Ji frowns, wondering if the evolution changed Violet’s core behavior until—

*Chu*

Under everyone’s speechless expression, each snake extends towards Ja Sun before pecking his left or right cheek as they surround him until a shy cry echoes from the cocoon of energy.

“W-what are you doing? I said to stay still, not kiss Master!”

The egg vibrates as the exposed arm tries to gesture wildly.

But Violet’s embarrassed cries fail to stop HER ‘Hair Snakes’ as the apparently independently connected entity leans around Ja Sun.

“Why don’t you come out?” Ja Sun smiles, his hand moving to pet one of the snakes when other snakes bit the offending snake to have the gall to accept their master’s pat—until everyone else received one, too!

“I can’t,” Violet whines quietly. “I failed you, didn’t I? I had a lot of time to think, and I’m betting the ‘voice’ fooled me. She said your actions of trying to peek into my evolution would have you endure another Tribulation. But that’s not the truth, is it?”

Ja Sun blinks, finally understanding what happened.

“The fact Heaven can use deception is already a great deal of information,” Ja Sun doesn’t lie about the situation and states as is. “Besides, I can always catch another Spirit Beast and force-feed it the good stuff until it breakthroughs.”

His words pull a frown from Bi Ji and Gu Yuena, both feeling unsettled by Ja Sun’s claim of ‘farming’ 100000-year-old Spirit Beasts since they know he might pull such an act if it fit his goals!

They hear a sigh of relief before Violet’s voice echoes. “Um, ah, M-master, I also grew a little. And I have—”

“Stop bragging,” Ja Sun snickers, his words making other women feel a vein pop over their temples since they can understand the ‘intent’ behind Ja Sun’s understanding of Violet’s ‘growth.’

The cocoon of energy unravels after another bout of silence as another hand tears out, accompanied by golden-feathered wings! Others blink in surprise as the entirety of energy turns into a mist-like state before congealing into a singular point like a whirlpool as more and MORE of Violet’s body appears in their view.

‘Woah,’ Ja Sun gulps, accompanied by an undeniable stirring in his balls. The moment would be his ‘unga-bunga’ memory if he were a primal man.

Gold covers her previously green scales around her forearms and everything below half her thighs, alongside the scales around her neck, jawline, and collarbone. Her fair, milky white breasts undeniably look bigger in volume, and the pointed nipples certified their perkiness. Ja Sun blinks.

‘She has legs,’ he realizes only after a full minute of ogling his disciple’s breasts. He only realized the woman covered her deceptively human nethers with the cross of her hands near her crotch as a thick, serpentine tail elongated from the base of her spine, replacing her lower lamia body. And then there’s Violet’s golden, feathery wings. He blinks again, matching her former yellow pupils that now flicker with purplish irides. The black underside of her tail matches the dark scales around her claws.

“Master,” Violet thins her lips, not really bothering to cover her breasts under his gaze.

“In a minute,” Ja Sun replies. “I’ll be with you shortly. I’m getting inspired again.”

Other women roll their eyes as Bi Ji politely extends her hand to close her superior’s hanging jaw while Gu Yuena sighs softly, “Congratulations, Violet. But you aren’t a Lamia anymore, right? Did you get the information about your new species? Spirit Beasts rarely name their own species, after all.”

Violet blinks, nodding.

“Gorgon,” she mutters. “I’m Feathered Serpent Gorgon.”

“Hisssss~!” All her hair snakes hiss collectively as Ja Sun nods. “Uh-huh, uh-huh. Just another minute. I’m digesting my inspiration.”

“Do you have no shame?” Bo Saixi finally pats her forehead, wondering if Ja Sun’s reaction is merely to exaggerate things. But Ja Sun pays little heed to his priestess in ‘need’ of attention. He replies mechanically, “Uh-huh, uh-huh. Just another minute. I’m digesting my inspiration.”

His words and unhinged stare don’t bother Violet. After all, she barely enjoys wearing a top, and now she will likely have to cover her lower body. The thought of it depresses the bubbly Gorgon.

‘Unless I learn how to craft the Wardrobe Ring as Master did. He said we will have to depend on ourselves to create that artifact.’ That artifact should create clothes most suited to her comfort, right?!

“Can you shapeshift into a human?” Bi Ji inquires with a smile as Violet shakes her head. “Not yet.”

“Hmm, don’t be a stranger to ask for tips if you can’t get it easily,” Bi Ji adjusts her glasses, chuckling.

“I suppose we should leave to let you contemplate on your breakthrough,” Gu Yuena smiles as a shameless voice rings again.

“Uh-huh, uh-huh. Just another minute. I’m digesting my inspiration.”
