Sons of Anarchy Season 2 Episode 13 REACTION!! (full watch-a-long)

I watched this originally about 5 years ago. I am rewatching it through your reactions now, as a father of a 1 year old boy, and holy shit I wasn't expecting to get so emotional over Abel being kidnapped. That really really really hits different as a parent.

I think I and many others were dreading this stretch of show for you Nikki. For those of us that have watched your reactions and know how much momma bear comes out when kids are involved I can say with some confidence people who know you guys, and know this show knew some real raw emotion is on it's way.

AGAIN - the acting. You're talking about that scream of Jax at the end. I've seen this series a few times and it STILL cuts me like butter with a hot knife. And Nikki saying it can't end like this - imagine having to have WAITED for the next season if you were watching it originally!!! I've watched MANY series - and have quite a few favorites -but hands down, SOA is definitely Top 3 for me and will go down as one of my lifetime favorite things to watch. In terms of writing and the actors' performances - I just don't think it gets better. This ensemble - I LOVE them. Even the characters I hate - I love - because the actors are SO good. So glad you're watching and happy to be watching along (again) with you. 🥰

Weston was a pos and deserved what he got and more, but I cannot help but respect that he took his death like a champ, unlike Zoebelle who kept running like a coward.

Half-sac died a hero. The second Cameron went for Abel, he was on him, ready to protect Jax's kid. Man died a badass and a hero. Cameron fails to realize that he screwed up as did his kid. Jimmy, The Feds, SoA; all of them were onto them both; the hell did they think would happen? Edit: I did also hate how Zoebelle got off easy. He barely even cared that his kid died.

I remember suffering through those between-season hiatuses back then. My BF, who didn't watch SOA at that time, always knew when a season ended because I'd be in a bad mood afterward. Anticipation of waiting for another season to start gave me anxiety. Then during season 4 I got him to catch up and finally start watching real time with me. When that season ended he was like "Damn it. I don't want to wait that long before it comes back!" and I was like "Hmhm, see?" LOL

SOA is such a intense but incredible show to react too. SO MUCH HAPPENS EVERY EPISODE. You can just tell the writers really think about the overall story but also season arcs, character developments. I’ve always loved the S2 finale. I think it was an interesting choice having Zobelle get away. Definitely a plot twist I didn’t expect. The Irish/Cameron becoming more of a threat. Stahl being her usual crafty, selfish self. Jax’s scream! Damn good TV.

Came here to comment this when the time was right. I’ve suffered from Brain Injuries for years, it took many different doctors in many different states to find anything and the right treatment. It’s a tricky thing. Also, Nikki might want to avoid that article if it’s the one I’m thinking about (involves an animal). 😬 Edit: nvm apologies, that article doesn’t include it.

Johnny Lewis who played Half Sack actually died in real life a few years after he left the show. He had alot of issues and head trauma, apparently he was beating his landlady and fell from his apartment to his death. Really sad and tragic.

So, what I had as confused as you guys my first watching was that Cliff, Weston’s eldest was being held by cps undergoing a psych evaluation which meant the youngest was also a ward of cps as well. Weston was being cut loose for the fire but considering how cps actually found cause to remove the boys, his being freed didn’t mean they were free. Hence he tells Hale he can’t leave without them and Hale saying he can arrange a visit to see the youngest on the unsaid condition that he gets the fuck out of dodge as soon as possible because as we know, Hale loathes bodies dropping in Charming. Long winded explanation to say that Weston just wanted to spend as much time with him as possible and tattoos as “distinguished” as his, I’m sure, take a while.🤷🏾‍♀️

He reportedly fell to his death trying to dispose of her body. Such a sad situation all around. Can’t believe we’re at Season 3 already. I’ve worked with veterans traumatic brain injuries a long time. I would be amazed if they did any correct scanning or testing. His was absolutely frontal lobe. And that takes more than an MRI. And a lot of time is it symptom based only. Sad.

Yeah, I know his scans after his motorcycle accident were negative but head injuries are hard to spot anything. Such a tragedy and terrible for the landlord who was very kind to acts that were struggling giving them a place to relax and not worry.

This episode is cruising along, then Gemma goes after Polly and we side the unintended consequences of that action. I feel for Tara in that moment imagine her guilt and just how horrible that was for her to see Half Sac murdered then Able taken. They certainly set the table with an emotional ride from e10-13. One thing I appreciated was FX allowing Kurt Sutter and crew to run this episode and others over the standard 42 mins or whatever it is. This one was the first I recall running an hour of show time but you dont even notice because you are so engaged by what is happening. That said I cant wait for them to start season 3 as it is a banger as well. Although this is a great season with all the internal conflict then finally the club healing and coming together as a family to turn the tides. I cant wait till we get to the end of S3!!! Then I will say the same thing about the end of S4 lol.

I was concerned for Nikki on this episode because of Nikki's reaction to Breaking Bad season 5 episode 14. FX television kind of ruined season 2 finale for me. They showed on tv the whole Jax yelling on the deck and the other Sons gathered round him. No idea what was going on at the time and then my mind put together what happens when finally watching SOA. There were things I didn't remember on this finale. I remember the ending, but things here and there during the show. Almost felt like a first reaction lol. Johnny Lewis who played Half Sack, I don't know how long he would have last on the show even if he did agree to stay on the show. He was always getting in trouble in real life. And he accidentally fell to his death when trying to escape after killing the landlady and attacking neighbors. Johnny's family said he developed a psychological disorder after a motorcycle accident where he suffered head trauma.

Amazing reaction! So glad you both love it too!! I always get emo when the boys hug and toast to brotherhood 😭 every time Jax takes a call and they have to ride out, as ONE ….. my tender emotions. Haha. Even Happy telling Jax he was proud of him. Every woven thread of two seasons was effortlessly paid off. Gemma being abused, going to church and being told to look for ways to give and serve…. Leads her to feeling God put her on earth to be a fierce mother. All the little pieces that had to intersect…. So well done! Ps you notice the Fortune “Teller” behind Gemma? The sign. 📝FYI, Steven: “Half Sack” (Johnny) killed his landlord 😦. And was found dead. He died 2.5 years after this. Yes, Johnny requested out. Then had a Traumatic Brain Injury that damaged him, creating Psychological problems.. It was not a shock apparently when he was found dead. I’m sure the murder had to be though. Here is an article. I took screenshots of the scenes where it is bad, because I couldn't believe production did not fix it. If I could upload the pictures I would. Without saying too much, it is the most obvious when Jax finds the beanie on the dock. That is when the extensions are super bad. Jax has sandy blonde hair, and the hair extensions are pretty much bleach blonde. and his hair is about 3 shorter than the extensions. It is painful to see lol

So halfsack was meant to be around in the story longer but apparently the actor who played him didn't like how he was going to progress as a character so he asked the show righters to kill him off rather than go down that path.
