Konoha’s underground prison is a network of layers and booby traps meant to safely isolate the less dangerous criminals from the more dangerous ones. As one would assume, a Shinobi village like Konoha doesn’t have trials and court sentences for jail and whatnot. The prison in the police building is the only ‘warning’ troublemakers from within the Village will ever get. On the contrary, the underground prison houses the criminal deemed ‘executed.’ Such shinobi or rare civilians are used for hostage fees from the enemy nation, research, or experiments that would be too cruel to be performed on one of their own.
A beam of lightning flashes through the halls of the underground prison, blowing off the torches and rending brick and steel alike with widespread arms, leaving many prisoners dizzy through the thundering bursts of shocks as the Raikage cleaves through the narrow hall, releasing staggering prisoners out of their confines while looking for his son.
“Contain them!” Eagle orders swiftly, ensuring the Sannin chase after the Raikage. Dealing with the weakened prisoners bodes no challenge for the collective Anbu and Police Shinobi. It’s the fact they have to leave a certain number behind to ensure the prisoner’s status that started to affect them. Meanwhile, Hiruzen doesn’t chase after the Raikage as swiftly as his former team. Instead, he’s forced to consider another bitter situation.
Is the Raikage alone?
A’s and Onoki’s subtle but consistent camaraderie is no secret to Hiruzen, and the Third Hokage cannot assume with certainty that Raikage has nothing else planned—he is too sophisticated for that. In Hiruzen’s mind, the only way the Raikage would ever make such a scene without a delicate scheme is if he lost his mind or is perhaps dying.
“Fugaku-kun,” Hiruzen stops Fugaku from assissting Eagle and other Anbu. “I have sent the eagle for other Jonins.”
“Lord Third?” Fugaku fails to understand Hiruzen’s intent.
“You are one of the most experienced Jonins about Kumogakure’s ways. Lead the police and the Jonins collecting over the school roof to set defenses around the Konoha.”
Hiruzen unseals a scroll from his body and tosses it to the stunned Uchiha youth. “Go. Every moment counts.”
“Yes,” Fugaku nods, flickering from the rubble above the prison.
“Inoshi,” Hiruzen continues, “Eagle and his men are enough to contain the situation. Back to my office with Shikudo and Choku. Cooperate with Fugaku and keep a close eye on the Barrier Seal.”
Inoshi leaves with a smirk that pronounces the scar on his face.
Hiruzen takes a deep breath before glancing at his eldest son, “Eagle, take charge of the situation here. I’m going ahead to secure A’s son.”
“Roger.”
Hiruzen zooms past the destroyed tunnels with that, slipping past the secret paths and weaving through the modified caverns to stand beside another reinforced prison shackling A’s heavily drugged offspring.
“Now what?” Enma, the Adamantine staff in Hiruzen’s hand, questions.
“We wait,” Hiruzen keeps a ready stance - his back crouched and knees bent. “He can appear from any direction. Chasing him is impossible. He’s the fastest Shinobi, even if I channel lightning through my soles. All we’ll get is a fraction of a second to react.”
“You sound nervous,” Enma chuckles, making Hiruzen smile.
“No,” Hiruzen licks his dry lips. “I’m excited.”
“That’s enough to make me nervous, partner,” The staff grumbles between the loud rumbles shaking the prison.
---
The Raikage decelerates for short breaths between tearing through prisons throughout the network to confirm if his son is held in any of them before moving forward. Such short pauses eventually find the Sannin tailing him shortly. While Orochimaru’s and Tsunade’s face marks grow prominent, Jiraiya scowls as he runs with his hands pressed together.
“How do you two even get it done so quickly?”
Orochimaru smirks while Tsunade shrugs, tapping the inverted seal on her forehead.
“We’re going ahead, Jiraiya,” the only parent from the trio licks her lips. “Don’t keep us waiting.”
Tsunade and Orochimaru flicker with an outlandish burst of speed, instantly closing the remaining distance between them and the Raikage as he weaves through the initial attacks of snaking trunks of woods and venomous white snakes without looking at them.
*Drrrt*
The thick metal plates suddenly tear from the untouched prisons before caging the Raikage from all directions as thick trunks of the wood coil and capture the prisoners still coming to be.
“You can control metal?” Tsunade questions as she stands beside Orochimaru, reinforcing the cage with a wooden spiral as Jiraiya shortly lands beside them.
“In my Sage Mode, yep,” Orochimaru focuses on the cage.
“He’s doing something,” Tsunade frowns.
“Oh, leave some suspense for me,” Jiraiya rolls his eyes, commenting sarcastically.
*Thc*
A muffled thud echoes from the cage.
*Thc*
*ThC*
*THC*
*CRASH*
A figure clad in lightning tears from the confines, charging straight at the trio! Their minds react to it, but their bodies are too slow—
The Raikage hits something invisible as Jiraiya stares back, his once black irides now pale yellow. “Just in time,” the Hermit Sage grins as the Raikage narrows his eyes, turning his fist into a rigid palm slash that tears the invisible confines around him before flickering away. Yet, his body suddenly crashes against the wall.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Tsunade coldly snarls, and the dancing electricity in her fingertips slowly dies out.
Raikage stares at the dangerous trio through the rubble as he slowly returns to his feet, standing straight. There are no verbal messages as the trio surrounds the treacherous enemy, momentarily incapacitated. Jiraiya quickly bites the flesh of his thumb before slapping his hand on the ground.
*Poof*
A cage of pink flesh covers the ruined corridor’s interior. Meanwhile, the Raikage quietly works on dispelling the Lightning Nature Jutsu screwing with his nervous system. Yet, he doesn’t get much to focus since a figure flashes ahead of him, purposely positioning herself in a way that he’s forced to stare at her breasts almost slipping out of her grey kimono—
*KHCCCCHHH*
A relatively small fist almost pushes his face into his skull as he flies back, smacking into the stretchy wall of flesh that absorbs all the momentum. Yet a trickle of blood quietly slides down his nostrils.
“He IS hard!” Tsunade scowls, staring at her clenched fist as Orochimaru observes the situation. The trio grows cautious the second the Raikage moves his hand to wipe the blood off his face. Standing again, Raikage looks down at his fists, clenching and opening them before letting his electrifying gaze settle on the three troublemakers.
‘I DID get distracted by her breasts,’ Kai grits his jaws. Well, he can always learn from his mistakes and not repeat them. His stare turns into a quiet glare. Since he doesn’t know much about the Raikage’s arsenal, he’ll have to use what he already knows, which isn’t much.
“It’s dangerous,’ he feels a throbbing from inside. ‘But I can compensate for the opportunity lost when fighting the Raikage.’
Maybe fighting the trio isn’t so bad after all.
Raikage’s figure zaps through Orochimaru and Tsunade as their bodies fail to match their outstanding Sage reaction time. The lightning chop decimates the invisible barrier around Jiraiya before reaching for the Hermit Sage’s neck, only for the fleshy wall from under his feet to stretch out and absorb the impact again.
“Hmm?” The Raikage frowns as he avoids Tsunade’s and Orochimaru’s attack again before reappearing in some distance. His hand clenches the fistful of flesh against the wall as his gaze grows gloomier.
“It’s similar to Dodai’s Lava Release,” Jiraiya licks his dry lips, ignoring the cold sweat on his back. “It’s better to gracefully give up, Lord Third.”
The Raikage stares at the trio with a look that ensures he won’t stop. Yet, something strange transpires.
The lightning cloak around the Raikage disappears, and he falls to a knee. His body shivers as his breathing turns laborious—an event the Sannin doesn’t know the cause of. However, they won’t miss their chance as the trio pounces on the Raikage with Tsunade hammering her interlocked fists upon his head.
The Raikage’s body smashes into the slightly sticky floor before bouncing in the air, allowing Orochimaru to follow up with a barrage of kicks that barely does a thing. Knowing this, Orochimaru slaps her palms together, creating a blender of wind vacuum that aims to grind and crush the Raikage, only for it to tear his skin bloody instead.
“Back off!” An invisible covers Orochimaru, Tsunade, AND the cover of flesh around them as Jiraiya appears in front of the Raikage with a sphere of white-hot chakra. Glancing at the jutsu in Jiraiya’s hand sends goosebumps to the remaining Sages.
‘Yep, feigning supposed weakness at such a time was the wrong move,’ Kai stares at the senjutsu variant of Minato’s incomplete technique. ‘Oh, well.’
[Taiyogan]
Blinding light and unimaginable scorch fill the trio’s vision as the Raikage takes the Jutsu head-on.
---
“What if you lose?” Nono feels a lump in her throat. Her confidence in Kai is nothing to scoff at, but she cannot imagine him taking on the entire village with a handicap. Her worries are shared by the remaining women since the plan solely depends on how much punishment Kai can endure.
Sitting on the chair backward, Kai smirks, “It’ll be fine. I think it’ll even be fun~!”
---
‘Oh, joy,’ Kai feels numb. ‘Fun.’
His vision slowly comes to be.
Is it cheating if he’s in his Sage Transformation under the Transformation Jutsu? Well, yes. But he was never stupid enough to fight three sages without some protection. He may not be using Senjutsu Chakra to avoid making Jiraiya suspicious. However, he’s damn well using it to boost his body’s defenses aside from mimicking the Raikage’s skin.
Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade watch at the bone-chilling sight of a bald, scorched man with his flesh melting into his facial features, sealing his eyes, lips, nose, and ears. His body is no better, scorched and marred. The lack of clothes ensures the trio can see horror given flesh and form as it continues standing straight before slowly turning to look back at THEM!
*-zt*
A bolt crackles around the man, struggling to make its presence known.
“How is he still-” Jiraiya whispers.
“Let’s-” Tsunade grinds her teeth and almost orders another wave of assault when lightning surrounds the man. He disappears, using this chance to punish the trio’s momentary stupor instead.
His muscle-clad scorched arms spread, smashing into Tsunade’s and Orochimaru’s necks, hammering them into the fleshy wall before a kick rearranges Jiraiya’s insides while sending him flying! Blood flows out of their mouths as his cooked body wavers, threatening to fall alongside the trio.
But he doesn’t stop. Instead, he taps the nearby wall with chakra concentrated on the tip of his finger, tearing open a way.
An ordinary circumstance would see the Raikage killing the threatening trio, but these are extraordinary circumstances. He leaves the location instead of killing the gagging and dizzy Sannin, zipping through the rest of the prison to complete his task.
---
Hiruzen stares into the darkening hallway. A lone, flickering torch illuminates the end of the prison, casting hollowed shadows between him and the jail behind him.
*Fwp*
The torch blows out, damning the corridor to darkness.
*Bzt*
*Thc*
Hiruzen stares at the shadowy figure illuminated by crackling electricity all around him.
“They did a number on you,” smiles the Third Hokage. “Can you hear me? Or are you working your sensory jutsu to the extreme, Former C?”
The Raikage inclines his head before tilting his head slightly as if ‘looking’ at the cage behind Hiruzen.
“Something must have happened. It feels like a suicide mission rather than a rescue mission,” Hiruzen tightens his hold on his staff. “If that’s so, there’s nothing I can say to persuade you.”
The lightning intensifies as the Raikage zips past the Hokage—
“No, you don’t!” A tail lies in wait, stretching out from the center of the adamantine staff as it coils around the Raikage before pulling him back.
*Bzzt*
Lightning dances around the staff itself as Hiruzen momentarily matches the burst potential of the Raikage, crashing his pole against the Raikage’s abdomen and sending him flying back.
Hiruzen Sarutobi, The Professor, mastered all five Nature changes, capable of flowing them and enhancing his taijutsu!
“I admit I’m nothing compared to you or Sakumo Hatake when it comes to using lightning in Taijutsu,” wind shrills around the kage, a jutsu Kai is relatively familiar with.
[Wind Release: Cloak of Madness]
“But it’s just a taste!” Hiruzen swings his staff, creating vacuum slices without additional jutsu as the dancing wind sticks to his blade before skewering in the recovering Raikage’s direction. It lacerates Raikage’s ruined protective skin, tearing flesh off the walking dead and effortlessly countering the lightning cloak around him.
However, it’s not enough.
Kai may not know much about the Raikage, but he knows how to act as a dead man on a mission.
He walked that mile before.
He died before.
And one thing about death is—
*Bzzt*
He flickers and appears beside Hiruzen, chopping at the staff and countering the earth-release adamantine jutsu around the pole to directly hurt Enma as it disappears with a plume of smoke!
—It’s swift!
He ignores the offending hand torn off using another wind vacuum as Hiruzen retreats. The Raikage’s lightning tears the hand off further, destroying it to leave nothing behind for the enemy as his remaining hand tears the metal cage, leading him inside to the unconscious dark-skinned youth.
—It’s free.
The Raikage tears the metal confines enforced with fuin seals as three other shinobi appear beside Hiruzen, reinforcing his attacks.
Sharp wood drills into his legs, tearing apart his ability to stand. Wind opens his scorched back to bleeding as the Raikage slams his chest, allowing black seals to snake around his body before collapsing over the unconscious youth, narrowly avoiding the devious invisible attack from Jiraiya aimed for his head!
“He’s—” Jiraiya whispers.
—It’s uncompromising!
“Look out!” Orochimaru swiftly raises the wall in front of them as a massive beam of white light tears apart any and every restriction within Konoha’s prison to cover the Raikage’s corpse and his son’s unconscious body. The sheer impact of the chakra destabilizes the ground, sending the nearby shinobi flying back, leaving a burnt tunnel in its wake and no signs of the Kumo duo.
“Ugh,” Hiruzen groans, returning to his senses quickly as he unconsciously squeezes something soft. His breath catches in his throat as the last thing he desires after such a stressful night is a beating from Tsunade. The old man jumps away, squeaking, “Tsunade, I didn’t mean to—”
He stops as he manages to see it wasn’t Tsunade he was lying on. Instead, she was holding a bleeding Jiraiya by the collar as the man was knocked out with a goofy grin on his face.
The old Hokage stares at Orochimaru.
So much happened tonight.
The Raikage came, destroyed, rescued, and most certainly died.
And—
“You’re a… woman?” Hiruzen’s head buzzes.
Smiling coyly, Orochimaru replies in HER usually scratchy tone. “Surprise, Sensei.”
That’s right.
‘I’m getting too old for all this.’
---
An open platform in one of the confidential valleys of Kumogakure sees Atamui falling unconscious as a corpse, and a slightly charred youth appears on it with a flash of light.
*Twitch*
The Raikage’s body twitches before a plume of smoke covers him, revealing Kai in his dragon-monkey sage mode as he sits up while rubbing his head.
“That Taiyogan was dangerous,” He huffs, looking at his wood clone before looking at his sliced left hand.
Flesh congeal around before his body reconstructs his hand again—one of the many benefits of Sage Transformation!
He would chat with his clone, but isn’t that the same as an inner monologue?
“It is,” the clone nods.
Exactly!
Kai disappears, leaving things in his clone’s capable hands.
“Meaning, my capable hands,” the clone snickers as he glances at the unconscious Atamui before walking over to A’s son and binging the next Raikage under his control.
‘That’s Kumogakure and Kirigakure now.’
Of course, he eventually wants to shift control into his hands on paper, too, since Kai understands that manipulating things from the shadows and directly taking responsibility are two different concepts.
‘What a night,’ he sighs.
