Black Sails Season 4 Episode 10 REACTION!! (full watch along)

Comments

I had to wait a few days to react to this—family emergency. Fortunately everyone is ok though it’ll be a tough road back for my Mother. Nevertheless, thank you for watching this. I cried like a baby too when I saw James McGraw back together with Thomas Hamilton. Such a perfect ending for him. Remember last season, Miranda said to Flint in his dreams that ‘he was not alone’. In my mind, from heaven or wherever she might have been that she knew a Thomas was not there and knew (or saw) that he was alive. I absolutely love Madi and understand her frustration at Silver. I do think that ending scene was her way of saying she was ‘willing to talk’. I do believe from Treasure Island that Silver did have a child with likely a marooned former slave. I assume that was Madi. I know Jack was eventually caught and hanged but believe Anne was set free as she was pregnant at the time and convinced the judges not to execute her along with ‘Marc’ (Mary) Reed who we saw join the crew in the end. Flint was my favorite character in the show. I loved Jack/Anne, Vane, Blackbeard - so many characters and for very different reasons. I always felt that. Silver was ‘just a cook’ as he presented himself in episode one. Yes, very glib and definitely a survivor but definitely never wanted to be a long term pirate. Will post more in your after party/discussion reaction as a question. I love this show so much, superb writing, acting, direction, purpose, character-driven. Just amazing. I could watch it again and again. Looking forward to what’s next and whenever you get to The Last Kingdom - that’s great. It’s a very different show from Black Sails with a loyal following. I also recommend Peaky Blinders- it’s phenomenal. Lots of other shows are too. Again, thank you. More to come later…

Next major show yes but won’t happen for a bit with so many legacy shows coming back.

What a great show and phenomenal reactions. Loved it! Now that Black Sails is finished does that mean that The Last Kingdom is next??

Reaction Junkie

Thanks guys. It's been great to share this show with you.

I'm glad I decided to join in this watch along. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it, but you guys got me hooked and it has been great watching along with you and the other amazing fans out there. Can't wait for what you decide to react to next.🙂

This is a prequel to Treasure Island (no prizes for where treasure island is in the story!), in case you didn't know, that opens with an elderly Billy Bones visiting a tavern in England. The book is where the character of 'Long John Silver' originally came from. While I'd probably not suggest it for a reaction, it's a bit dated now, its definitely worth seeing the original story this was a prequel to in one of the movie adaptations for it.

Been watching yall for a long whilez now, sub to support and to join you on what I consider one of my favorite endings to anything, ever. Keep up all the good works yall.

Hopefully Everafter

I'm so happy that you guys loved Black Sails it was on my recommendation form the very beginning right after your GOT reactions Black Sails and Vikings were my only recommendations that I have made.

"I...unmade him"

I'm pitching a "Black Sails" remake where Toby Stephens is the only human actor and all the other characters are played by Muppets. 🤣😂 Just imagine Flint's constant exasperation at having to deal with them.

Amazing finale and another great reaction. Loved the whole ride with you guys! Would love to see a follow-up "episode " to get some viewpoints and discission on all the trivia and alternative story theories that people are gonna bombard you with now. And if I may suggest, It would be amazing if you did it alongside a reaction to Muppet's Treasure Island. I know... it's Muppets, but from what I've heard it's actually one of the better re-tellings of Treasure Island. I loved it atleast and so until the cast one day re-unites to make a real version (fingers crossed!) it's the best choice to see the follow-up story for many of the characters.

This remains my favorite show of all time. The scene between Silver and Flint in the forest is one of the best monologues I have ever seen, both in writing and performance. Toby Stephens deserved every award for this.

Drew

Just a topper. The story being told by Jack. Being told to a new recruit. The new recruit's name Mark Read. In real life Mark read WAS a pirate, sailed with Jack and Anne (which in case you didn't remember did actually sail together) AND Mark Read's real name, MARY READ. Yep another real life female pirate that sailed with Anne and Jack. AWESOME touch in the end

This was the best reaction for any series finale I've ever seen so much emotion at the ending. I would like to believe Silver's story but it's just too good to be true, but it was amazing way they handled that. Thank you so much Nikki for making the executive decision to watch this near perfect show I love so much.

ExArchyy

Love that Greek interpretation you mentioned and it also makes sense.

ExArchyy

My favorite series of all time. It's so tightly woven from beginning to end. I knew I was gonna cry again but I started ugly crying as soon as Nikki pulled out the tissues. Such a beautiful story. I honestly think Silver killed him but I Want Flint's happy ending to be true.

A Vicarious View

MY HEART IS SO FULL!!!! I'm a grown ass adult who was literally wiggling with excitement when I saw this post and started watching it. There are so many things I could say about this finale, SO MANY THINGS, but for now I'm just going to say that I really loved experiencing this with y'all, it was so fun and wonderful!

Hannah

Breaking Bad, GoT, and Black Sails are my top three favorite series. I'm so glad you guys gave the show a chance. It's a shame because if Black Sails was on HBO, it would have reached a wider audiences. I'm on the Silver lied boat (sorry Nikki). The story was too perfect.

Sandy Emile

Just started season 2 of Mr. Robot. I'm excited seeing what you just wrote :)

Guys that was incredible, thank you for giving this show a chance and producing these reactions for us! This is easily the best reaction series I’ve seen! On my first watch I had the exact same reaction as you guys and didn’t even consider the possibility that it was all just a story by Silver. Now, whilst I believe Flint was killed, my favourite interpretation of the ending and the one I find most poetic is the Greek mythology interpretation where that scene was a visual representation of Flint meeting Thomas in the afterlife in the Elysian Fields. Fitting imo considering the undertones of mythology throughout the show starting with Flint’s story of Odysseus way back in ep 2. FYI there’s an entire breakdown of that scene and how it parallels someone passing through the underworld into Elysium on one of the eps of the Fathoms Deep pod. The reason why this is my fav ending to a show is the meta nature of it and how it perfectly ties into its theme of the power of a story. Throughout the show characters create stories to achieve their goals but the truth is always transparent to the audience, until now. Here at the finale, one final story is told by the greatest storyteller of them all who was created by a story himself, but this time the truth isn’t revealed. We now have a choice, just like the Walrus crew when following Flint or anyone listening to Silver, do we believe him? To make the audience actually experience the theme of its story is genius writing. I also find it fitting that the climax to this incredible story imo wasn’t a giant battle but two all time great characters having the most heartfelt and poetic conversation ever put on TV. When Flint starts uttering the words “They paint the world full of shadows…” my heart skips a beat every time. What I also love is that I can genuinely see both Flint and Silver’s perspectives. I love Flint’s idealism of fighting for truly a better world. I also understand Silver’s pragmatism of wanting a peaceful life for himself and the ones he loves. It’s so compelling. To tie in a real life fun fact with the last scene, Jack asks at the end “What’s it all for if it goes unremembered?” referring to his flag - it turns out that flag depicted is the real Jack Rackham’s flag which is still synonymous today, three centuries later as the pirate flag. Could say so much more but hopefully catch you guys for the live stream! I’ll just leave with one of my favourite quotes of the show from Jack that perfectly ties back to storytelling: “A story is true. A story is untrue. As time extends it matters less and less. The stories we want to believe, those are the ones that survive. Despite upheaval and transition and progress. Those are the stories that shape history.”

This finale, Breaking Bad's, and Mr. Robot's are my all-time favorite finales. Just an absolutely perfect episode of television.

Another fun fact about a cast member - Clara Paget (aka Anne Bonny) is a British aristocrat. Her full name/title is Lady Clara Elizabeth Iris Paget.

-🏆🏆🏆 Thank you, Nikki, for your executive decision to watch this show. I have really enjoyed watching y'all discover it. It's been great fun. -You will be bombarded with YouTube comments of "You're watching TV wrong again!", "Silver lied", "Flint is dead", "Silver killed Flint and lied to Madi about it". The writers wanted each viewer to decide for themselves if they believe Silver's story. I always want to protect that for first time viewers. The ending is whatever you want it to be. -For me, I see the ending as a quiet tragedy. While I think Flint/Thomas are together, they're still prisoners at this plantation. History is not on the side of Jack, Anne, Max or the Maroons. "Treasure Island" looms for Silver, Billy, Hands and Ben Gunn. I also prefer to think that Madi kicked Silver's ass to the curb. 😂 He took away her agency and her righteous cause. I want her to ditch him and continue her fight with her allies. -Amazing moment for me is Flint "cursing" Silver on Skeleton Island because it gives a new layer when you read "Treasure Island". What Flint predicted has come true and he will try to regain what he lost, not just the treasure but also return to a time when he mattered and was important. -Fun fact is the actress who played Spain's spy and Eleanor's maid is married to "Flint" in real life. The kids she's reading to is her and Toby Stephens' real life children. So the whole family got in on the pirate adventure. :D
