I have never understood how it ever becomes a question of Rhaenyra vs Alicent, who's in the right? It's Rhaenyra every time and let me break down why: When we're first introduced to them in Ep1, Rhaenyra has no designs to being heir. She wanted to learn to fight and not have babies, sure, but it was clear that she understood that her mother was either fixing to give birth to the heir or her uncle would be king when her dad died. Never until after Viserys listens to Otto and replaces Daemon with Rhaenyra (Before he makes his daughter the queen mind you, that fact was purposeful and nobody ever talks about how calculated on Otto's part replacing a full grown Male heir with the first female named heir is or why) is the succession ever in any real peril or question. She never asks for it, but is used even more so than Alicent is to shift the Hightowers into a position of power. As hand doing what's best for the realm would have been coming up with a permanent solution for Daemon like either killing him or naming Rhaenyra and marrying her to him in the first place, remember he had no issue suggesting she marry her 2 year old brother. With Viserys' health being what it was starting another branch in his line was never in the interest of the realm, but who got the ultimate come up? people never take into account that Otto used Rhaenyra as much if not more than he used Alicent and just like people understand Alicent doing as he bid as his daughter and growing to adhere to his ways and advice even in his absence.I feel the same about him putting Rhaenyra in that position as heir to get rid of Daemon, she didn't ask for it but once it was hers, it wasn't something he should have thought she would give up. As for her not having legitimate kids, the thing is that if she were a boy, nobody would care that she had outside kids. I think with her being the heir and being female was an opportunity for people to see things differently, like the fact that with a female Heir, there is no such thing as a bastard to her throne because regardless of who fathers them, they are Visery's grandchild. if he wanted to be smart the way he would have used her was marry her himself or to one of his sons.

2022-10-10 16:10:43 +0000 UTCI only now realized, re-watching this, that the reason why Lucerys laughed was because the servant placed a ROASTED PIG in front of Aemond and it probably reminded him of the stupid "pink dread" pig prank from when they were children lol I was so tense waiting for something bad to happen that I didn't even pay attention to what was on the plate the first time I watched

They’ve only showed all the events that set up this conflict. But fortunately there will be no more time jumps in the show as we are now in the main timeline.
